Steve kimock & the everyone orchestra Live

Right now from the Ardmore music hall!

I''ve always had a proclivity to dislike the Everyone Orchestra, specifically because of how annoying the "conductor" is.

But after having seen a couple of very different and very good variations live, I must admit there is something really good about the concept. There always seem to be really good improvisations happening, and with completely different musicians every time there is always a different groove, so I guess that annoying conductor dude must have a clue.

And this sounds pretty good right here.

I just don't look at them and I'm fine.

Uh oh, annoying conductor dude is singing.

I'm out.

Kimock and Hamsa Lila with the everyone orchestra at the Crystal Ballroom has to be in my top 25 shows of all time.  Saw them again a year later with Nershi and Fishman in the band, but it was just ok.

Missed this! A band with a conductor is not for everyone.

I've seen EO in Portland and it's a fun live experience that engages the audience...I also like it because there are usually musical surprises along the way.

(Disclosure: I'm also a "music acquaintance" of the conductor and his wife, but haven't seen them in soooo many months... we live several neighborhoods apart.)

Ken, what year was that Hamsa Lila show?

I've seen more than one memorable Kimock shows at the Crystal... miss the lineup w/ Rodney Holmes the most.
