Stones Done Rolling?

Forums:

That's the word coming from their fan site IORR.org, where it was announced that the planned 2026 European Summer Tour has been  scrapped.

Kind of weird if their last show was at Branson.

And that was an added show to the tour

From what I get, the 2026 tour is scrapped and no further shows are booked, and recent past rumors suggest they may only do select shows from now on. According to moderator, BV, no one is sick or anything, they might just not feel like touring anymore.

Probably just the sphere then. ..

Tiiii-iiiiiiii-iiiiiiiiime's not on my side, no it's not...

Definitely sounds like a job for the Sphere.

3 - day Stones Sphere pass = $5000.00 face in the 400 level.

Mick has indicated no residencies and it sounds like it might be an internal rift not just "don't feel like it" situation.

I'd rather just like to hear the new album.

Are they gathering moss?

Besides not being too fond of the idea of residencies, Mick's voice has struggled with the desert climate, both at Desert Trip and in Vegas in recent years, so the Sphere seems out.

Keith and Ronnie have both played in public recently, and they have a finished record to promote, not to mention the last one, Hackney Diamonds, which they had yet to perform any of in Europe.  It doesn't add up.

The World Cup might have something to do with it, either for scheduling venues, or maybe they just want to attend in person.

3 Stones, 1 cup.

It was stipulated early on that the tour was to be scheduled to allow for them to watch World Cup matches

All the sources around me confirm that it is indeed Keith Richards who no longer wants to go back on tour. He has simply come to terms with the fact that he is no longer physically able to do it, and that he does not want to be away from Connecticut for such a long period of time.
This isn’t a whim or a conflict — more an act of lucidity.

Of course, many people will ask: “But then why were we still talking about a tour?”
The truth is that a tour was actually being prepared. Teams always work behind the scenes so that everything is ready, just in case the three Stones decide, at the same time, that they want to hit the road again.

It’s a bit like when Mick Jagger comes to Paris: four or five tables are booked in different restaurants, and then, at 7:00 p.m. — or even 7:07 — Mick decides whether he’s going… or not.

I truly believe this is an act of lucidity from Keith Richards. A lucidity that may have come late — and one he hasn’t always had over the past twenty years, wink — but a very human one.
According to everything I’ve heard from people close to the band, this marks the end of the great large-scale tours as we’ve known them.

And probably, too, the end of the Rolling Stones as we’ve known and loved them on stage for decades.

This may explain BV’s immediate reaction, posting right away and inviting everyone to gather their memories in one place — as if, deep down, we all sensed that something had just come to an end.

The Rolling Stones axe plans for 2026 UK and European stadium tour as Keith Richards couldn’t “commit”

The band have reportedly nearly finished work on a new album, and the scrapped live shows would have been their first UK dates since 2022

The Rolling Stones have scrapped plans to head out on a UK and European stadium tour in 2026, due to Keith Richards being unable to “commit” to it.

The live shows were heavily hinted at in recent months, with pianist Chuck Leavell dropping teasers last month, and a spokesperson telling The Sun in June that the band were planning on hitting the road in the UK and Europe as they had nearly finished work on a new album.

If they came to fruition, the gigs would have been the first tour dates from the rock legends since they went out on their ‘Hackney Diamonds’ tour in the US in 2024. They sold nearly a million tickets across those 20 dates and generated an estimated $235million (£185.1million) – making it to Number Six on the highest-grossing music world tours of that year.

Now though, it has been shared that the plans for stadium shows in 2026 have been scrapped due to Keith Richards being unable to commit to the gruelling schedule.

The reports were first shared by The Sun, which reported that an American music critic claimed that the 82-year-old guitarist didn’t feel up to another run of shows.

“The Rolling Stones had all the big promoters throwing loads of ideas and dates at them for next summer,” the critic said. “But when they properly sat down to discuss the tour, Keith said he didn’t think he could commit and wasn’t keen on a big stadium tour for over four months.”

A spokesperson for The Rolling Stones has confirmed to NME that the reports are true.

I obviously don't know how bad of shape keef might be in

But I know how bad of shape you've got to be in when you prefer Connecticut to touring

it's been a hell of a run

>>>But I know how bad of shape you've got to be in when you prefer Connecticut to touring

Where he lives in Connecticutt is lovely.

If I hit the powerball I would consider owning a home within a 20 mile radius of where he lives

I wouldn't call their previous tour schedules "grueling", they generally played two shows a week with three to five days between each show and stayed in the finest rooms in the finest hotels, and in the US Keith could fly home between dates, but even though they scaled back the length of shows and it's basically the same show every night it still takes energy to play a huge stadium rock show twice a week, so I could see how that's gotten old for him.

For me personally the thrill was gone when Charlie passed, it just didn't sound or feel the same, and I wouldn't be surprised if Keith feels the same way and that has something to do with it.

As long as he's healthy and can still physically play I'm fairly sure he's not done performing, maybe just not on the bloated scale of the past.

He should consider buying an out-of-the-way restaurant with a small performance space and have a revolving cast of musicians play shows just when he feels like it.

But I guess that would never work.

I think the gap between shows is part of the issue, it takes months to get through a tour, and then tack on rehearsals and you've got 5 months gone to cover just over a dozen shows

They live frictionless lives. I don't think it is any more complicated than this.

The show I saw in 2024 was decent, and Keith & Co. certainly delivered, but without Charlie, it lacked whatever made it 'The Rolling Stones', although the same could be said after Bill left.

It's Mick, Keith, and Ronnie with a backing band, and the stage setup seemed to really emphasize that.

Hard to say if they'd make more of an effort to tour if Charlie was still here.

I heard it is actually Keith's arthritis preventing him from doing this tour

Please be an Expensive Wino's tour

The reason Keith doesn't want to do this tour is that the promoter (AEG) only wants shows on weekends, Which means it's four months of Keith sitting in hotel rooms waiting for Saturday and he doesn't want to do that. Unlike Jagger, Keith doesn't go out when on tour and at 82 he doen't want to spend a significant chunk of the time he has left sitting in strange hotel rooms.

Right, that video I posted goes into that... short of an actual statement, all we will be able to do is speculate but that's about as likely as we get
