Yes it is, per Jason Jones at Rhino, it is. he did a great job with the recent Waiting for Columbus box

Ted Jensen at Sterling did the remastering FYI He worked on the original album and is the band's preferred mastering engineer.

Tour? 1 off show?

Is it the movie or just the recording?

I've always been a bit disappointed with the movie. They filmed and recorded multiple nights, and at times they clearly synced the audio from one show to the filming from a different show (slight but noticeable differences with the look & sound of the singing, a cymbal crash when Chris doesn't hit a cymbal, etc.) and to me the sound overall feels over-produced & disconnected to the video.

Plus, Jonathon Demme did what all film makers do with rock bands, focusing on closeups instead of full band shots, which was particularly egregious for that show. The use of extras roaming the stage with mobile spotlights created amazing shadows of the musicians on the back wall (which was particularly impressive at the Berkeley Greek with it's huge back wall, which pretty much blew my psilocybin-laced mind the night I saw it). It's been a long time since I've seen that movie, but I don't recall those full-stage visuals featured much.

Still, that live show stands as one of the greatest concerts I've ever seen, so I'm pretty sure I'll check it out if the movie makes a theatre run, and I'll definitely buy the recording.

It's great to see Talking Heads music carrying on and having a bit of a revival, with Byrne still using songs in his shows and various tribute bands having success (Pink Talking Phish just shreds the THeads songs).

I think during their time the Talking Heads may have been a bit taken for granted, but 40+ years later their music and live shows stand the test of time and now older folks are getting a reminder and younger folks are getting a new appreciation for how good that band really was.

IMO, they were one of the greatest rock bands of all time, so in this case, whatever nit-picks I may have with the movie, I'm all-in for anything Talking Heads.

>>>I've always been a bit disappointed with the movie.

I'll take the some of those straight shows from 1980... Rome... Dortmund in terms of music. I get they were a "theater group" early and the movie is cool in that regard.

It's both, the film is coming back to theaters and a updated audio release

In the early 80's it was perhaps an odd pairing but the GD and T-heads were the two best concert experiences I was having at the time. Both guaranteed to achieve moment of great take off.

Elvis covering Jerry, into Remain in light at HSBG '23 this year was a wild trip back in time.

June 4th tour announcement?…?
please

No more talking, just Heads.

June 4th tour announcement?…?

No tour, but they will play the Sphere next year

Woz I'd be there!

They had tickets for less than $100 in the back half of the mezzanine, but once you add in fees and parking, I just couldn't justify paying like $120 to see a movie.

$120 to say you saw the Taking Heads together onstage, though.

I hear you, but it still doesn't work for me to listen to them talk for a half hour or so from my seat in the back rows of the mezzanine. For $120, I can go see some live music.
