i just had nice shows w/ dark star last night (77 forum show) and jerry's middle finger last week.

just bout tix for 8/9 Greek LA - Charley Crockett, Asleep at the Wheel, Junior Brown...$56 after fees for decent seats. Incredible value in this day and age. Amped. PS. his tour sched. is playing great places nationally. catch him.

stones in LA this weekend, prob still won't ever see 'em.

keeping eye out for Dylan/Willie at end of month.

lots of good shows this summer everywhere.

Kind of slow summer for me for live music. Saw TTB about a month ago at the LA Greek. Coming up, I've got the Outlaw Fest in a couple of weeks at the Hollywood Bowl, acoustic Hot Tuna at the end of September in Santa Barbara, JRAD in late October at the LA Greek, and then a John Hiatt solo show in November in Santa Barbara.

going to do a DC weekend during Jerry week.

Englishtown Project

Jazz is Dead

hopefully squeeze in a visit to Smithsonian or another museum while we are down there.

These days I just don't get out as much as I used to. Part of that is I'm not compelled to be in those settings the way I used to be so I don't take nearly as many chances on unknown acts, another part is there just aren't as many acts I am aware of that compel me to go, especially in rock 'n roll, which I'm hardly seeing of at all these days.

I was sad about that for a while, but I've come to realize that it's all part of the great curve. It's kind of amazing how at 64 I have a growing list of things that are natural for me now that when I was younger I said, "That will NEVER happen to me!"

On it goes.

Oh, but I do still get out some. What I have tix for through August....

Dave, Jimmie Dale and The Guilty Ones were great last night at the Tractor.  Nice to be back in a club.  Christy McWilson played a solid set with her band to open.  Dave said the Tractor is one of his favorite venues, "a home away from home."  He looked comfortable, and healthy.

The 70 minute main set featured a lot of tunes from their new album getting something like their fifth time played.  They were sounding good.  Encores were:

4th Of July

Get Together

Marie Marie

Add to the list

JRAD NYC

Thinking about Tedeschi Trucks, Little Feat, Margo Price in Bethel on my way to Treehouse for DSO.

Capacity is like 700 here, gonna be a tight fit...hopefully they offer a bus to get everyone camping to the show...and now I have to come up with a new excuse not to go...

Excuse:

Go to Treehouse Brewing in Deerfield Mass. for DSO in late August.

LA Straaaangs!

We've (The Skadeadles) have a bunch of private gigs over the next few weeks, should be fun!  Tomorrow we're at Cheadle Lake park in Lebanon OR, 3rd out of 4 bands

Also, have tickets for;

Bonnie Raitt (Hult Center)
BEAT  (McDonald Theater)
The Klezmatics (PRAx)

And of course, my bread and butter, local / regional bands at the local clubs.

I just found out that three of my favorite musicians are playing a show as a trio in San Francisco tomorrow night.

Scott Amendola, Michael Manring & Karl Evangelista at the Red Poppy Art House.

Nobody will walk out of that one whistling the tunes they heard, but the walls of that place are going to melt and molecules are going to be rearranged.

My kinda' party.

Hot Tuna (acoustic) at the McDonald Theater in Eugene, Sept. 23.

Jeff Lynne's ELO in Vancouver BC

CATS + Grateful Shred in Bellingham WA

Allah-Las in Victoria BC

Had tix to Outlaw at The Gorge but nixed it.

Charley Crockett killed it as expected. 8 hags on Chardonnay behind us were some of the worst concert patrons I've seen in a while. They left before his set ended but pretty much took a shit all over the 1st 2 acts....

> 8 hags on Chardonnay

That's a band name if I've ever seen one.

^ Same

Or maybe it's a song title

Could be, but I'm seeing an octet of middle-aged riot grrrls.

even en francais ça marches " huit hags en chardonay...

Jane's Addiction tonight. never seen them. wish me luck.

Have fun turtle and may you not be the oldest dude there

Herbie Hancock and the Head Hunters at Hollywood Bowl

Wed / Aug 14, 2024

Herbie reunites for the first time in 50 years with the original lineup of Harvey Mason, Bennie Maupin, and Bill Summers, with Marcus Miller standing in for the late Paul Jackson.

jane's was good, not great altho perko stole the show. and no, was def. not the oldest dude there.

Did love & rockets open?

yes, along with a girl band called the crawlers. i am not very familiar with love and rockets and they did not woo me over.

nice new venue in front of center field at padres stadium. Grassy knoll provided good view. sound was muddy.

Thanks

hopefully they can get the sound worked out for some future gigs, that's a cool spot for a show

Dead and Co 5/18

Allanis Morissette / Joan Jett / Morgan Wade 7/5 Bethel

Outlaw Music Fest 7/6 Bethel

Dead and Co 8/3

Grand Old Opry 8/9

i think my buddy got us sturgill at the sb bowl 9/15

anyone go see him at outside lands or bimbos?

footage i saw was killer

Friends raved about Sturgill at Bimbo's, and almost anything is good in Golden Gate Park, especially when the fog is rolling through the trees, as it was this past weekend. Plus, given the nature of most artists performing at that festival the crowd for Simpson's set was probably comfortably light.

And you should have seen Jane's 25 - 30+ years ago Turtle. They were truly a force of nature.

I know they were Lance, interesting band for sure. Recent article came out about Perry and his ex gf not getting credit for their artistic direction or influence.

i'd be disappointed if no bay zoners got their sturgill on

Bill Frisell- Village Vanguard!

Mondogreen!!!

Festival of the Summer!!

Nobody does a Fest like Phish!!

I want T.O.D.'s schedule.

>>>i'd be disappointed if no bay zoners got their sturgill on<<<

Not particularly likely. The Bimbo's show was unannounced and must have been a brutal ticket to score, and it's doubtful that any zoners were at Outside Lands.

I was surprised to hear that Simpson played on the main stage at OS, but then I heard that his day was country-leaning, and since Sturgill appeals to a younger audience I can see how he'd be a top act at that event.

Nice I'm fucking there too! Looking forward to everything except Humidity!

Beautiful night in Exton PA for a free concert in the park with The Fantastic Cats!!!

Paul Cauthen F night, just saw this listed!

Have fun at the Big Velvet shoe turtle!

ty Dise!

2nd closest venue to me, and I also like it...terraced/GA.

just saw jmf there, they usually don't have stuff i'm interested in.

Even though it's more of a grind these days for me to get to shows and I end up eating more tickets than I ever used to, I just now bought tickets for three more... sheesh.

But all three should be excellent - Jazzmeia Horn, Richard Bona & Nduduzo Makhathini Trio, and they're all at the fabulous and user-friendly Bach Dancing and Dynamite Society in Half Moon Bay.

Free Remain In Light tomorrow afternoon in the city, late night with Peter Rowan and Sam Girsman in Berkeley. Billy Strings on Sunday at the Greek. I'm getting old for this but going to give it a go.

nice lineup woz

Paul Cauthen was some rock n' roll.  No big velvet dise, but some new songs, and re-worked older stuff with I guess, a new band? Different than years back. High energy. He  Kicked a dude outta the 1st row for standing with his back to him. Made me think of our beloved lltd. :)

"man get the fuck outta here, what fuckin' show you think you're at?"

nice lineup woz

Sure is. I also have to pick my son up at SFO between RIL and Grisman/Rowan. Going to be a red bull night!

Remain in Light was outstanding as per usual.

Sam Grisman Project with Peter Rowan was fantastic! Billy Strings sat in along with Eric & Suzy Thompson and played a fantastic set.

I haven't done two shows in a day in awhile Other than when in Vegas, I am wiped out today but going to See Billy Strings at the Greek later anyway!

Wow Woz.  Looks like you are gonna need a vacation.  How bout DSO Paris.  Hahahahadevil

Billy was terrific last night, that kid just plays and plays......
