Super Bowl

Forums:

Rams Bengals, eh. Just hoping for a good game.  With all the states that recently legalized gambling, there's going to be record amounts bet on this game. Somewhere in the vacinity of 7-8 billion according to Vegas,,, and that's just the Legal gambling. Unreal.

How about that halftime show ? If they want to have an off the hook time, (f snoop dog, he's last decades mutt), they should book whoever does that song that's all over the Olympic coverage selling iphones. Better yet, book the kid on the bike.  Damn song's growin on me

I've always liked Stafford, Donald is a beast, one of my best friends is a die-hard LAmbs fan and I have no overt ill will toward the LAmbs in general so if they win that'll be OK with me, but I'll be rooting for the Bungals, as their fans have suffered for decades, for generations.

I used to know a guy from Cincinnati who I'd often see at west coast Phish shows. He was a Bengals season ticket holder who's tickets had originally been his father's. We used to talk football all the time. He was a really good guy who held no grudge (that he admitted to) against the 49ers for beating his team often and twice in the Super Bowl, and his suffering was always written all over his face when discussing his Bengals. I haven't seen him in a long time, but I'll be rooting for him.

Plus, that Joe Burrow seems like the real deal.

I'm betting long and hard (yep) on the Rams in a runaway and believe the Bengals' Cinderella story will be coming quickly in this game. We will see.

I'm with Lance on this one. Bengals. I like Burrows. And Cincinnati could use it. Long suffering fans.

But if Stafford gets a ring that would be fine. He's a class guy who is a helluva player and deserves to get one. But it's LA. Dodgers, Lakers, etc......

Either way. Just would like a good game.

Frosted Flakes F1 has been my super bowl all week, a real touchdown if ya ask me.

I'm not a betting man but may put down a small wager for the F of it just to make the game more interesting. I know almost nothing about either team, as they never broadcast any of their games out east. I could use a tip, who's your money on ?  What parlay's are you taking ?

Small affair at our house this year, scaling it down. Going with a rack of baby backs, chili with cornbread, and a veggy platter,, plus the usual nuts chips dips and beer. Whatcha got ?

Joe Burrows is and always will be the one NOT to bet against.

Rams are a solid all around team who should win this game, Bengals play hard and from the seat of their pants with a true young helmsman in Joe.

Hopefully it will be fun to watch.

Scaling it down too this year will do the blotter over the liquid.

I probably won't have time before Sunday, But I would participate if someone put together a pool.  Maybe a 5 X 5 grid?   25 squares at 5 or 10 each?

This is the least I care about which team wins in a long time. After the spectacular run of playoff games the odds say this will be a blow out.

Burrow better be able to get rid of the ball quickly.   The Bengals O line is a balsa wood fence and the Rams D line is a freight train.

No shits to give, tho' I will admit it's in my nature to root against someone with a name like Cooper Cupp.

But I'm looking forward to picking some tunes with a buddy pre- and post-game.

Going for the Evangeline Hat Trick (Robertson; Hidalgo/Perez/; Sweet).

Bengals 30 - Rams 24   Here's to a fun game.

Rams 31, Bungles 27

Superbowl-Garcia connection. Ya might have heard his work during a commercial in the first quarter:

Airplane's "Somebody to Love"  - rearranged by Jer.

"...I’m fond of the songs that Grace is in: I like Rabbit a lot, I like Someone to Love – the original on the album is more or less my arrangement, I kind of rewrote it. I’ve always liked the song she used to do with the Great Society, but it didn’t have - the chord changes weren’t very interesting.”

interesting reading during SuperBowl that I don't really care about but have it on in the background while I drink mead and east a pork chop and smoke some weed I got with points.

Dr. Dre, Eminem, Mary J Blige. The other guy I have no clue.

And that was a facemask!

^50 cent.

I'm not watching, but the other performer was supposed to be Kendrick Lamar.

That's right 50 cent. I forgot

well. between the Ravens season and the playoffs, it's been a pretty good year for watching exciting 4th quarter football. Can't wait til next year.

It's already next year, Alan.  Season starts in August.

yes Dave technically correct -- I'm being distracted by watching the Olympics -- you know what's a stupid sport? Solo bobsledding. It's just mach-10 sledding  Like little kids do around here (it snowed today), just speeded up. Who wakes up thinking I'm going to be the world's best sledder? And gravity does all the work. What's the goal? Don't crash.

I don't know about sledding, but I had high hopes as a Snurfboarder.

It absolutely was a facemask, but the ref was behind the play and couldn't directly see it, so he did what the refs were doing (almost) throughout the entire game - not calling penalties that aren't obvious to them (as they should always do).

But then, at the end of the game, after not calling ANY penalties throughout the game (where there were multiple plays that would absolutely have been called in a mid-season regular game) they call a phantom defensive holding penalty on HUGE 3nd & goal play, when there was NO holding at all.

Once again, it makes one wonder about the quality of refereeing in the NFL.

In the greater sense of fairness, the Rams got one back because of the non-call on the facemask, but in the regular flow of NFL football, once again, the refs found a way to insert themselves into the game at the end, in a way they shouldn't have, and fucked it all up. Again.

Still, despite it being a generally average NFL game where no one really stood out (except Chase on those two one-handed catches, THAT guy is fucking great!) the (slightly) better team won, so good for them.

But in a multi-billion dollar industry, one would think the league could figure out how to make the refs less of a constant liability.

But then again, one would also think that the human race could figure out how to stop hating and destroying ourselves.

Ah sports.

As always, it reveals the flawed human condition.

Whatever.....

49ERS IN 2022!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Football's over, no one cares about the Winter Olympics, MLB is on lock-out.

If it wasn't for college and pro hoops, we'd all be shooting darts.

>>If it wasn't for college and pro hoops, we'd all be shooting darts.

so Dave, it doesn't even occur to you to watch hockey?

yeah, me neither.

Just caught the halftime show on the youtubes.  So 50 Cent made a surprise appearance after all doing "In Da Club" while hanging upside down.  Kendrick Lamar was there too.

Lebron James called it the greatest Halftime Show he's ever seen.  Others pointed out that it was a nod to millennial nostalgia, and that all those who were getting off on it are now realizing they are officially over the hill, lol.

I thought they did a good job.  Visually, it looked great, and it seemed well rehearsed.  Was digging the irony of Mary J. Blige singing about No More Drama while acting very dramatically.  Eminem took a knee, referencing Colin Kaepernick's social justice gesture.  Found it very odd that they let Snoop Dogg perform after the sexual assault and battery allegations were made against him this week.  One of my regulars claimed that Snoop is a pornographer as well, running a company that produces, ahem, adult videos.  I don't know if that's true, but he seems to be curious bedfellows for the NFL.  He's like the new Teflon Don (the Teflon Dogg?).

Anyway, all pretty entertaining, and I dug the drone light show as well.

I thought about adding Hockey, Quinn, but the reality, is that maybe 2% of the Zoners follow it.  I caught a Kraken game this year, and still follow the Washington Capitals and Alex Ovechkin closely, but I'm still pulling for an end to the MLB lockout, so that Spring Training and the regular season start on time.

Half time show was the best I ever saw. I'm not saying it was amazing, just the most enjoyable for me.

The Rock pregame intro was the dumbest thing ever.  Go back to wrestling.

Kind of a weird game.  Some missed calls, a lot of no flags, and then there were four flags on three plays at the end of the game.  Both teams had the chance to put the other away multiple times.

Why the Bengals ran on 3rd and one with a short clock is unknown to me.   The 1st quarter 4th and 1 was another questionable call and ended up with a TD for the Rams.  You need to have some ringer plays if you want to take those risks and the Rams showed up.   They were the better team and just had too many stars, even with Odell out, they were stacked.

The Rams announced today that in celebration of this Super Bowl win they will be changing the team colors from blue and yellow to black and white stripes.

Damn, we really ARE everywhere.

Kendrick Lamar proved to me that many a failed rappers could have a fulfilling career as an auctioneer.

Kupp is a head, cool.
