Super - Kool Groundscores / Kurbies...

Forums:

Actually they were from the recycling Center.  I brought some cans,  bottles,  cardboard and plastic,  but brought home some Amazing castoff Junque.

One was an electric Chainsaw.  It's a Remington brand made in the USA;  Bowling Green,  Kentucky.  I know,  why an electric Chainsaw when I already have Real Chainsaws ??

Duuhhh,  Ice-carving.  Sometimes you just want to make a lovely Ice-sculpture indoors,  but don't want to have petroleum fumes.

So the chain is a bit rusty,  like the bar (16").  I got it all apart last night and cleaned the internals,  sprayed some PB Blaster on that chain.  My forensic diagnosis tells me that the former owner left it in the rain a while.

The motor actually runs !!  So of course,  I'm thrilled.

It looks a lot like that,  but older and more rusty.  The Ice block doesn't care.

The dump/recycling center in Manzanita over on the coast has a thrift shop on site with the best of the junk they salvage.  I recently got two nice toms for a drum kit with hardware, a Stephen Stills biography, a couple of CDs, and a roll of tape for $14.10.

Yeah Mr. Portland Ken,

This place does some 'repurposing' with all the castaway Bicycles.  They hand them off to a charity which builds some nice Bikes out of all the junque.  But the Krap over by the Fridge / stove pile is free - range Sanford & Son territory.  So the silly electric Chainsaw was Absolutely Free.

However,  the Killer item was one of these:

Yes,  a genuine Echo Weed Wacker.  It's an SRM-210.  Of course,  I had low expectations,  knowing that someone threw it out.  So I put some nice fresh 50:1 mix in there after checking the spark plug and such.  Had it running in a few minutes.

Actually,  it starts and runs a little,  but won't "Stay Running".

My belief,  after a thorough 2-minute diagnosis,  is that it's the 'Fuel Tank Grommet'  which is $1.49 at the above link.

What's nice is that I've already got a couple Echo Weed Wackers in the shed.  They are slightly larger engine displacement,  but share many parts.  Maybe one's an SRM-225 and the other an SRM-230.  One of those seized up a while back,  but perhaps the fuel-tank Grommet is still OK.

And of course,  I've got spare parts like 'Brush-Cutter Heads' and stuff like that.  So it's OK to have more than one Echo Weed - Wacker on hand.  One has nylon string,  and the other has a Saw-blade.

Just so people realize I'm not super-greedy,  I left the castaway Ryobi and other inferior types of Weed-Wacker there.

But if that snow-blower is still there on Saturday,  well that's a parts machine for its identical twin.

What was I thinking not scooping that Fine Machine ???
