Tacet

Definition:

It is a musical term to indicate that an instrument or voice does not sound, also known as a rest.

In vocal polyphony and in orchestral scores, it usually indicates a long period of time, typically an entire movement.

In more modern music such as jazz, tacet tends to mark considerably shorter breaks.

Fascinating endeavor, the "Tacet" where the act of not playing the instrument, but slightly testing or scratching it is the art itself.

Pure genius.

Blows my mind after all these years.

What are your thoughts or musicians and their song or songs in which the "Tacet" is so eloquently applied?
