Tell me about the AARP Card

Forums:

Just turned 50 a week ago and received their solicitation.  Is it worth the $16/yr?

Would mostly be looking for savings on hotels.   I used to have AAA, but haven't renewed that in several years and have noticed that many hotel websites now require you to enter a valid member number.

i keep mine active but in all honesty never remember to use it. depend on you status at retirement you might get some extra health benefit, could nt to call them get the 411, its on 16 a pop less if you do 3 years

Catch back up with it when you hit 64(or whatever age you're eligible for medicare). AARP has the most inexpensive medicare supplement / script drug coverage out there.

I was in a neighborhood pot shop the other day getting vape cartridges for an upcoming trip and was asked how old I was.  I thought they were joking at first, but then they said they have 10% off for seniors.  Jeeze, thanks buddy but no, I don't yet qualify.

I've heard joining just opens you up to shit tons of Life Insurance and other spam mail...

We have our car insurance and homeowners policy through AARP, it's actually The Hartford. Great rates and very good service. They were on top of any claims we ever had, usually paid out in less than a week. I wouldn't even consider using anyone else.
