Tell me about "toll roads" near Newport Beach

Forums:

I was visiting the area in early August & wound up getting caught up in a clusterfuck of traffic on the way out & had to take a circuitous route & didn't have much choice but to take some highway which was deemed to be a "toll road" ... yet there weren't any booths & such, but claimed I needed to log on to a website and pay my "toll".

However, I neglected to do so, but have not received anything from the powers that be after 4.5 months ... am I in the clear?  Does having Colorado plates have any affect on this?

No clue how it works out there.  What I can tell you is that being from the East I know all to well about tolls.  Out here you will definitely get snagged for toll evasion. They take snapshots of your license plate for every car that passes.  Here's a link of info for ya. I didn't get into the specifics but it relate to all Orange County toll roads.

Or as it's known in Southern California "normal traffic"

So true Timmy! I hated going down there.  I lived in the Bay Area for three years and that was bad.  But nothing compares to SoCal traffic.

Yeah, I don't miss it at all.

I take the 73 toll road to work everyday which is what you were on.  You should have received something in the mail assuming your car registration has your current address info.  At least that's how it works with CA plates.  You can go on the Fastrak website and input your info to see if you owe I believe.  thetollroads.com

Here in the northeast they do something called "tolls by mail" in with you don't have to have EZ pass, don't have to stop, and they take the license plate pic and send you an invoice for the toll in the mail. No shit!

Um, they have your plate. Go pay the bill or you are fucked.

ps. FUCK the FUCKIN' TROLL ROADS.

That's what happened when I opted to take an express lane (with toll) from Boulder to Denver, but this SoCal toll road seemed to place the onus on the user to pro-actively figure out how to submit payment; possibly being dependent upon having access to the internet.

It's been over 4 months ... so curious how long they take to issue warnings or fines?

Starting 1-20, all roads will be this way.

Get used to it.

The Golden Gate Bridge has the license plate

photo program, no more toll takers.

Bill is usually sent within a month.

is Trump the guy who proposed closing 5 to the public?

yeah, can't pay troll booth workers $8/hr.....

your fines will go up every month or something.

you want a warrant for unpaid tickets>?

I avoid toll roads like the plague.  Our taxes helped build those and they still are privately owned?  Fuck that.

Once driving from Philly to The Capitol Theater I set the GPS to avoid toll roads and my travel time went from 2.5 hours to something like 9.5 hours! Would have missed the show. Sucks but avoiding toll roads is sometimes all but impossible anymore, depending on where you live. Was on a Friday afternoon if that makes a difference.

Luckily, there are only two toll bridges in OR and no toll roads.

As yet.

"Under Trump's plan—at least as it's written (more on that in a minute)—the federal government would offer tax credits to private investors interested in funding large infrastructure projects, who would put down some of their own money up front, then borrow the rest on the private bond markets. They would eventually earn their profits on the back end from usage fees, such as highway and bridge tolls (if they built a highway or bridge) or higher water rates (if they fixed up some water mains). So instead of paying for their new roads at tax time, Americans would pay for them during their daily commute. And of course, all these private developers would earn a nice return at the end of the day."

Water?

I accidentally got into one of the toll lanes on the freeway south of LA a couple of years ago and then realized my error and got out of the toll lane as soon as I could. A few weeks later, I got a bill in the mail for 25 cents, which cracked me up because the postage was twice as much as the ticket...

Makes perfect sense......................................
