During the band's tenure, the term Terrapin Tuesday was bandied around quite a bit. If you were going to a Tuesday show, there was an elevated chance you would catch Terrapin.
Other than the catchy name, it didn't appear all that plausible. The only reasonable angle I considered is that due to the multiple sections and complexity, the band was more comfortable playing Terrapin to the more slightly-relaxed early weekday audience. Perhaps the frenetic energy of the weekend was not quite as conducive.
So....
During the period of which Terrapin was performed ('77 to '95) they played shows on these days of the week.
- Sunday: 21%
- Saturday: 20%
- Friday: 19%
- Thursday: 14%
- Monday: 9%
- Tuesday: 9%
- Wednesday: 8%
Terrapin was played 302 times. 11% of those performances were on a Tuesday night.
So 9% of all shows were played on Tuesdays and 11% of all Terrapins played were on Tuesdays.
I'm no data analyst but given the number of performances (302), the variance appears mathematically low. Negligible.

The best Terrapin I caught
The best Terrapin I caught was on a Monday: October 8, 1984 at the Centrum in Worcester. They opened the second set with it, and I was third row on Jerry's side after scoring a box office ticket earlier in the day. That was a great night overall, but the Terrapin occupies a special place in my memory.
