Things to do in Vegas

Forums:

Going to vegas for one night. Will be with boy-os coworkers for Christmas shindig. Been years since I have been, what are a couple of evening sights to take in besides the Bellagio and whatever bar is nearby?

Fake Elvis Scavenger Hunt?

Gamble......

eat............

I get bored with gambling fast, plus you can do that here. Strolling among the bright lights with occasional refreshments is more fun.

Get married and lose money

capriatti's for sandwhiches.

I've always been partial to Ellis Island as a good inexpensive place for good drinks. The casino workers go there.

Now I see they are doing BBQ, Pizza, Tacos... http://ellisislandcasino.com/dining/bbq/

Near MGM Grand off-strip a block.

Pizza menu looks pretty reasonable.  http://ellisislandcasino.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/Metro-Pizza-Menu...

We were there back in July for one night as we were passing through.  My boys wanted to go one these crazy rides at the top of the Stratosphere Hotel.  We did that and walked the strip.  Crazy rides but they loved it.  My oldest son got a thrill from listening to a great Loser in the car on our way back down the strip to the hotel we stayed at.

Crazy rides sounds enticing!

Headin' there myself from the 15th through the 19th. Not too big on gambling either, but a friend is comped for the whole time. Looking forward to it. Probably play some blackjack & craps, but not too much. I was kind of hoping there'd be something happening @ Brooklyn Bowl, but no such luck.

Anyone know how hard it is to get herb since it's not legal until January? No way I'm flying with it.

Nevada accepts out of state medical cards and dispensaries are popping up all the time in Las Vegas.

I went to Vegas for a weekend while in college.  I was lit up on the acid and there was a Prince tribute band playing live in one of the casinos.  terrifying.  had to go sit on the curb outside.

Hookers, brah. Hookers.

Give me a shout if your hitting town.

Do you know how many sinks there are in Vegas?  I don't, but I bet there are a bunch.

BATTISTA'S HOLE IN THE WALL....best Italian dinner experience in the USA...and its a good price.

Rent a legal hooker.

Carnival punks.  You can see Shappy's carnival punks

Thanks yoda. I'll be looking for places to eat & batista's menu looks pretty good. Always need an Italian option

You can do that thing where you go into a padded room and a huge fan blows you off the ground. I'm not sure what it's called but ask around

i think the phish might be in town..

Melt sneakers on sidewalk always a favorite.

Capriotti's for Lunch, Dinner, and then Breakfast before bed.

Another Fare Thee Well in 2025?

SPIN talked to Shapiro about reuniting the surviving members of The Dead in 2015 (spoiler alert: he’s holding Chicago’s Soldier Field in hopes of doing it again in 2025)

You reveal in the book that you’re hoping to reunite the surviving members of The Dead one more time in 2025, which would be the band’s 60th anniversary.
Yeah! We’ll see what happens. Fingers crossed.

It sounds like Shapiro has a hand in choosing Phil's lineups too.

It’s a crucial part of this music living on that these older guys play with the newer crop of musicians inspired by them. Your Capitol Theatre residencies with Phil Lesh and a rotating roster of backing musicians might be the best example of that.

Oh, yeah. One of the best and most fortunate things I’ve ever gotten to do is work with Phil at the Cap. Phil is 82, but we’re doing nine more shows in October. He has trust in me to put the Phil & Friends lineups together, with his approval of course. Rick from Goose is going to play three nights with Phil on this run. I’ve tried to bring people like Billy Strings, Eric Krasno, Chris Robinson and Robert Randolph into this. I’m working on getting Marcus King on a Phil thing. Phil would rather play with newer, younger people.

It's not my preference but the seemingly ever-enduring "hookers and coke"?

It is weird to see people's old posts who aren't around - for whatever reason.
