I was at the X-Mas Tree lighting at Rockefeller Center that night with a few thousand others, which turned into a valley of tears singing Beatles songs.
John is a special. Part of the tapestry of our lives.
I vividly remember going to the Vigil on Central Park West a day or two after the murder.
In that pre-walkman era I constantly carried around a Sony Tunebox that allowed me to play cassette Tapes.
I recall taking the bus from my home in Tenafly, NJ to the 178th Street Bus Terminal by the GW Bridge and then heading to the 168th Street Subway platform to catch the A train to midtown. When I got on the platform I cranked Come Together for everyone to hear and literally hundreds of people started crying.
Hordes of us exited exited at 59th and then took the AA to 72nd.
When we surfaced there was seemingly a million people on Central Park West.
The streets were blocked off from traffic and there a half dozen helicopters in the air filming the gathered masses.
Their was a coordinated, profound and extended 5 minutes of silence where no one said a word.
Spontaneously, thousands of people marched into the middle of Central Park via Penny Lane to Strawberry Fields.
It was a moving experience. I was 16.
RIP to one of the Greatest and Most Inspiring People and Musician's ever.

The Beatles make me drop
The Beatles make me drop everything and dance. John's solo material makes me smile.
Always has and always will.
