What an opportunity ! We're tickled pink by the new developments of international politics these days. As Washington declared Jerusalem to be the new capital of Israel, I started drinking my beer a little faster than before.
It is high time for the government of Finland to issue a note for immediate release: The new capital of Russia is St Petersburg, formerly known as Leningrad. Sweden would follow, declaring Amsterdam the capital of Great Britain, and I would certify that Birmingham Alabama is the capital of the United States.

I guess the difference is
I guess the difference is that Jerusalem actually is the Israeli capital and has been for sometime. The Knesset is there, as is their Supreme Court and the PMs residence. Looks like a duck, walks like a duck . . . The suggestion that Jerusalem is somehow not the capital of Israel is one of those polite fictions similar to the idea that Taiwan is not a real country. Of course, just because Israel maintains their capital in West Jerusalem doesn't mean that East Jerusalem couldn't be the capital of an independent Palestine. Caring and sharing.
