I'd tend to say that this was an assisted suicide but we'll never know. In the mid 90's I delivered mail to the projects that this kid grew up in. It's amazing that he went as far as he did.

I heard that from some kook private dick on the radio last week. The guy also claims that it was OJ's son that killed Nicole & Ron. His correlation was that the kid hated Nicole and was a chef with knife skills. Never had heard that before but I haven't paid attention to the OJ case in years.
In the state of Massachusetts, Hernandez technically died an innocent man due to the legal principle of abatement ab initio, where if a person dies and has not exhausted all legal appeals, the case reverts to its status at the beginning; so the person becomes innocent. Hernandez had an appeal pending for his 2014 conviction in the murder of Odin Lloyd.
Ironically he was found not guilty for the murder he tried to cover up by murdering other people, for which he was found guilty and was serving a life prison sentence. Also he timed the suicided for the same day the Patriots are going to the Whitehouse to be honored for their super bowl win. That would have been his second ring if he could just have kept from murdering people. Pretty sure he wanted to take a dump on the Patriots with this act.
