Almanac Beer Co. - Craft Pilsner

refreshingly dry

Just cracked a Tioga Sequoia 99 Golden Ale to drink while I prep the Yellow Fin.

Somebody give a good beer recommendation. Haven't had good beer in a while.

Pliny the Elder - maybe. Or I'm going to save them for Christmas. Haven't decided yet.

Just had a Breakwater Rye Dawn pint courtesy of the visiting in-laws. Took first place in the 2016 World Beer Cup.

It was aight.

Stella.

My wifey had to figure this crazy postie shit out.

Hello, Mr. Murphy and the lovely Mrs.

Enjoy by 12-25-16

Sea Hag IPA from New England Brewing. I give it a 6.5 out of 10

i didn't want to go out and get beer so i'm drinking one of my back-of-the-fridge weirdos. Bruery 5 Golden Rings holiday special from '12. The spices have faded, there isn't much carbonation left, the pineapple flavor is still there. Not bad. I doubt I can finish the bomber, we'll see.

just finished a few of those eb 25s this evening, tom, not bad for some early east coast batches.

why thanks lava!

i think you're waiting for the other Quinn.

PBR

You are the west coast Quinn, not the east coast Quin, right? I made that mistake once, too.

Bud light on a budget and working all holidays. Double time and a half. woohoo

Still running the Celebration until it's not in the stores anymore. Have the Sculpin IPA's laid aside for Christmas.

will gladly share a beer with west coast, or east coast, quinn ~ happy you're here, cheers :)

Yes, Lava - the 10 be good, good stuff.

I like the 8 - and it's crisp delight - in the Fall - but when the calendar turns to Winter - it's 10, for sure.

I have been laying off the beer for a while and losing weight - but I have so many good stouts (east and west coast - and even some from Colorado) building up in my fridge (people know I love them and keep gifting me nice bombers) - that I know it's just a matter of will power to stay away too long. I have a Chocolate Oak-aged Yeti, an aged Old Rasputin (aged in bourbon barrels), two bottles of Eclipse, some Ten Fidy from Oskar Blues, a bottle of Damon from Hill Farmstead, Strange Apparition from Burlington Beer Co. and both some Luscious and some Beelzebub from The Alchemist (Fuck Heady Topper - I'm a stout guy!).

I just wish I could get my hands on some Anderson Valley Barney Flats Oatmeal Stout - my favorite west coast oatmeal stout - but the only place I have ever had it was in California when Willows took me to a great restaurant in Bodega Bay called Terrapin Creek and then when we stopped at their brewery in Boonville.

The enjoy by was tasty, Lava, glad it wasn't another tangerine IPA.   In the fridge I have Green Flash west coast IPA, AleSmith IPA, Enjoy by 12.25, Ruination IPA, Sculpin IPA, sierra nevada pale ale,  and Smuttynose Robust Porter.

I'll stick to the best beer ever brewed. Sierra Nevada Pale Ale!

>>Sierra Nevada Pale Ale!

Ha! One of my friends refers to that as "Grateful Dead Budweiser".

I'm partial to the Belgian Christmas ales: Coursendonk, St. Bernardus, etc.

The enjoy by 12-25-16 is really good. Here are a few others--

1. Alpine pure hoppiness double ipa

2. Capt lawrence palate shifter imperial IPA--my "go to" beer--much cheaper than most doubles-imperials. Probably can only find in ny and surrounds

3. Daisy cutter pale ale-half acre brewing. Loads of hops for a pale ale.

4. And if,you have a Trader Joe's near you--their seasonal Belgian ales--I like the dark one the best--are bottled by unibroue--and a few dollars cheaper--plus you get a full 750 ml not 22 oz as most larger size are.

5. Cap-port Chester beer tips. (I live 15 min walk to cap).  Coals by far has the best selection. Rye house beer selection can be hit or miss but they have awesome mixed drinks and whiskey selection and fabulous gastro pub food. Weeknight happy hour from 4-7 pm. If you are stayin in the area a few days, port Chester beer distributor at the very end of Main Street-- just past the train overpass--has a nice selection.

hoppy holidays!

I've pimped this beer relentlessly but I completely agree with your score. New head brewer, different hops & all around not a good product for the last 2 months.

Not sure were you're at in CT Lassen but we should catch up for a beer.

2. Capt lawrence palate shifter imperial IPA--my "go to" beer--much cheaper than most doubles-imperials. Probably can only find in ny and surrounds

I had the pleasure of visiting the Capt. Lawrence Brewery during the Philoween shows - and I got to try the Palate Shifter. Really good. Liked all of their beers - and we got in a nice game of outdoor bocce on their beer garden court while we were there. Live band playing in the brewery too. A top notch tasting experience was had by all..

Oops, also have some Hi-5 IPA, Not Today Satan IPA, and one Hopsecutioner IPA
