An Insiders Perspective on Tulsi Gabbard and her Guru
I was recently asked a question about US politics that is related to an issue very close to my heart. In the US there is a state representative, Tulsi Gabbard, who is gaining attention and interest of the media and general public. To most, this politician seems amiable, a war veteran who is attractive and articulate, who has had an interesting life and seems very together. I get her appeal. But to me, I know the awful truth behind her amicable facade.
I really want to like tulsi. Does she pack the right punch to beat Donald? Questionable in my mind. We are veterans of the same battalion, and also stood side by side at standing rock. She is also the only candidate (that I am aware of) who has bothered to weigh in on the protection of Mauna Kea. I Would like to see an activist veteran in the White House, and I agree with pretty much all of her positions. Not bothered by the cult thing.
However, her inability to actually speak the truth about Assad when asked very pointedly and directly, multiple times, actually makes my skin crawl. Her stock answer at this point is basically “world leaders shouldn’t say bad things about each other”. Saw her do this most recently just a couple days ago with Anderson Cooper. Complete nonsense. And “as a Soldier”, she would absolutely never get away with answering questions like that to a military commander lest she become a career Lieutenant. I don’t generally believe in regime changing wars either, and agree that Assad does not pose a direct threat to the United States. But he obviously and absolutely is a genocidal murderer, and out of only a handful of these types on the world stage it shouldn’t be that hard to admit. Should just roll off the tongue, actually. Why does she refuse to discuss this? It’s not a definitive no for me (joe & Kamala) but she’s the candidate I’m most on the fence about because of this.

“I strongly supported Mueller being allowed to complete his investigation into allegations that President Trump colluded with Russia to influence the outcome of the 2016 elections. Mueller was able to do so, has submitted his findings, and the American people should be allowed to see Mueller’s report.
“What we know is that Mueller reported that his investigation revealed no such collusion. Now we all need to put aside our partisan interests and recognize that finding the president of the United States not guilty of conspiring with a foreign power to interfere with our elections is a good thing for America.
“If the president of the United States had been indicted for conspiring with Russia to interfere with and affect the outcome of our elections, it would have precipitated a terribly divisive crisis that could have even led to civil war.

I'm calling on Congress to protect the integrity of the 2020 elections—and all elections—by passing my Securing America's Elections Act, which empowers every state to use voter-verified paper ballots, making it impossible for Russia or anyone else to change our election results.
ive never in my life heard a candidate say so many of the things that have seemed so obvious to me while being mostly absent from mainstream political discourse...i wish she had a shot...2020 could have been the first time i ever voted.
if ross perot had been born 10 or 20 years later he might be crushing it in 2020. ive been watching all those 30min spots he did on cspan with all the charts and graphs that at the time were poked fun at quite a bit...looking back on it now it seems like we may have missed a great opportunity. some of his social stances were pretty backwards but you cant win them all.
