Place called McClintocks I think in Pismo Beach has been selling them as appetizers since I was a kid(a long time ago). They tasted great.
That was the restaurant we went to for special occasions when we were staying along the beach, usually in Morro bay or Cuyucas.
Not sure if it is still open. Been probably 30 yrs since I was there. Maybe longer.
Does appear they are still at it. http://www.mclintocks.com/menus/index.asp
