I was at all 3 shows.  Planned a business trip to my office in Upland from my perch in Boston.  That week, Thursday night, the work we we doing rewiring the LA county courthouse (and asbestos abatement) at night, I got to sit in Judge Whapner's chair around 2:00 AM where they filmed The People's Court, took a photo with the life-size cutout of Rusty the Bailiff and then Friday late morning, took the drive to Ventura and it was my favorite venue (next to the Rochester War Memorial), to see the band. Great weather all weekend, got to walk on the beach with Bill Walton, hang a bit by the board with Healy and just enjoyed a fine run for that era.  In The Dark was out and Touch of Grey was climbing so I was a bit worried it would draw in the newbies and it was a very mellow beach scene.  34 friggin years--yikes

IWT good times

Definitely my favorite venue too. Saw every show there. 84 being the best imo.

Ventura '84.

I was sorry to have never seen the GD there, but I did get to see the Garcia Band in 1992. Very fun scene.
Lounging on the beach between doing line time was excellent.

Rochester War Memorial, WHY?>>>>>>>>>>

Doolittle, if you have to ask...................just kidding, it was a great, small, somewhat run-down venue, the kind the band used to favor,

which is evident in the number of strong shows they played in that seemingly unlikely spot.

My hometown venue, first place I was in the front row, super intense night. (Among a bunch).

That's Why!! (for me, anyway).

Too bad they got banned from Ventura  like so many other epic places at the time. But in reality they outgrew Ventura but still stayed true to the Greek and Frost a few more years before the fans killed those venues also. Love how they played Hampton under the Warlocks. Total Prankster move.
