BECAUSE TRUMP!!!!

WASHINGTON — The U.S. unemployment rate fell to a ten-year low of 4.4% in April, according to just-released data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, while the economy added 211,000 jobs.
The data mark the continuation of a steadily growing economy and could calm concerns about an economic slowdown after a weak March that added just 79,000 jobs, according to revised figures (previous estimates had the economy adding 98,000 jobs) and a report that U.S. gross domestic product grew at its slowest rate in three years in the first quarter that economists dismissed as being plagued by measurement issues.
The new figures represent a continuing trend of steady economic growth stretching back to early in President Obama's term, though wage growth continues to lag behind. Average hourly earnings for all private non-farm employees rose by just 7 cents to $26.19 last month, and average hourly earnings have risen by 65 cents, or 2.5%, in the past year.
Payroll company ADP released a Wednesday survey that found showed the private sector adding 177,000 jobs in April. New BLS figures revised February’s employment figures up from 219,000 to 232,000.

Jan. 17, 2016 - “Look again, you hear these phony jobs numbers? People that gave up looking for jobs? They are considered employed.”
Feb. 9, 2016 - “Don't believe those phony numbers when you hear 4.9 and 5 percent unemployment. As high as 35 — as in fact, I heard recently, 42 percent.”
March 12, 2016 - “The numbers are phony. These are all phony numbers. Numbers given to politicians to look good. These are phony numbers.”
May 24, 2016 - “You hear a 5 percent unemployment rate. It's such a phony number. That number was put in for presidents and for politicians so that they look good to the people.”
July 7, 2016 - “The phony 5 percent numbers that we hear about with the unemployment.”
Aug. 8, 2016 - “The 5 percent figure is one of the biggest hoaxes in modern politics.”

So many people are off the
So many people are off the rolls now, because their benefits have long since been exhausted. Still unemployed, but not counted.
These numbers lost their relevance even before the Obama administration started taking credit.

The stock market and real estate prices are at or near all-time highs, but you think employment sucks?
People are sure spending like they are employed, as spending is up 30% since the Bush-era high point of August 2008:

I'm unemployed. I don't want
I'm unemployed. I don't want to take a $12.00 an hour job either.
There's not a lot of good paying jobs out there. If you don't want $12-15 an hour there are plenty of people who will work for that.
And a lot of older folks took early retirement rather than work for peanuts.
The economy is still effed up for sure.

Really, Seadoggie, have some
Really, Seadoggie, have some pride. The unemployment rate hasn't been a good indicator of economic activity for years and it's really bad form to decide otherwise now that someone you like is in the White House.
A little intellectual consistency goes a long way.
