Utopia

Forums:

Going to see Todd Rundgren with Utopia tonight in Fort Lauderdale. Has anyone seen this tour yet? Who is playing drums.

Wish me luck.

Willie Wilcox is on drums.

I don't know why I was thinking the drummer was out....it is the keyboardist Ralph Schuckett that will not be touring and I never heard who is replacing him.

Gil Assayas is the keyboard player selected by Todd, to join Utopia for this tour.

Great fuckin time

met some real characters too

Tim, I got the t-shirt. Thank you very much!

It looks so comfortable.

I have a ticket to see Utopia tomorrow night at the Paramount in Huntington.

But not feeling so well this week.

The Utopia concert I saw last night was the best I've ever seen/witnessed.

I've never seen Todd, but the first concert I ever went to, was ELO at MSG in 1977 and Steve Hillage was the opening act and I was totally blown away. Still am.

Steve Hilllage's "L" was produced by Todd that year; and he released the live set from this 1977 ELO show last year and according to the liner notes. Todd was in the house at the mixing board.

Steve Hillage was wearing this cool white suit that night in '77 and when the lasers would beam down on him, he would glow into different colors.

Last night I arrived a little late & the first thing I realized, is that Todd was wearing almost the same suit Hillage wore in '77, which looked very cool

Then all of a sudden. Todd rocks into the most kick ass version of ELO's DO Ya!

The place went nuts. I was blown away how nice of a person Todd is (just like the Dixie Dregs) the warmth of the human being was what the magic was all about.

I forgot Utopia played Do Ya last might, until just now while working on the video of the show.

I saw the show last night.

My main impressions were that Todd still has the pipes, the song selection was disappointing (and/or possibly a few cut from the set, as the show ended significantly earlier than I was told) and Willie Wilcox has Allen White syndrome, which held it all back.

Overall it wasn't bad but it could have been so much better.

Long tour for old school guys.

I was hoping you had a good time.

I had a good time, and it is the end of a tour.

If they had just played a few that they didn't I'd probably be going again in Sacramento on Monday.

And I might anyway since a couple of friends are going, and I'd like to see if my reaction would be the same.

Or I could just stay home and relax.

It's nice to have choices.

Was there a drum solo yet? Willie is amazing.

It would be hard to relax at home knowing that could happen.
