Does your kid have to come back in a few weeks for orientation? It's on the 15th and 16th, or something like that. Has he/she picked their housing theme yet?  Mine has chosen the, "I give a fuck about the environment and social issues" theme. She has to take a 1 credit "I give a fuck" course in the Fall semester.

I hear that if you get busted being even buzzed in the Wellness theme, you get booted.

WTF is this "housing theme" bullshit? When I was a lad they just told you what dorm and room you were in - that was it.

Now they have Facebook groups, so people can get to know each other and pick their roomies. It's friggin bizarre.

I think that the theme stuff is really new. This may even be the first year of it at a mass roll-out. Something like 80% of freshmen will be in theme housing.

UVM: My tax money at work paying for other parent's children's "education".

That's how public colleges and universities work, not just here, but all across the nation.

Just had a niece graduate from UV with an electrical engineering degree.  Smart puppy, did lights for a local band.
