I'll add to that...I had a "Eureka" moment on the steps of the Berkeley Greek Theatre 1989, there was a kid playing "I Know You Rider" on an acoustic guitar, I finally understood the "G-C-D" principle chord configuration and it was "off to the races" from then on, I'll never forget that moment.
