A Visit From the State Department Agents...

Forums:

State dep't of Agricultural Preservation annual Farm Tour.

Every year the dude rides out to the Farm and takes a guided stroll through the fields & Woods roads.

This year he brought along a trainee, Erin. Sharp young lass; she spoke of some state-sponsored Deer-Fence funding (but the money isn't there yet).

We did about a 3-4 mile hike. No real reason to go all the way around that SW field, but I had Dawg with us, and my tax $$ are covering the Hüsky escort.

I warned them that there would be Mud... been raining all week.  A couple trees blew over the Woods roads from the Big Winds on Monday.  We got Muddy.

It was funny:  the second time we crossed back over the same fallen Ash tree they said "Oooh, here's another one !"  But it was the same tree.  I guess they all look alike.

So their verdict was "It all looks good, but plant a Winter cover crop (there may be funding) and mow the NW field."

Hüsky found a fairly-fresh Deer leg near some Deer fur, but no other carcass.  I suspect Coyotes.  The agents had no clue.

Winter is coming

did you take them to the old growth section?

Phaldo,

These people can barely navigate the flatland muddy woods roads, while the old-growth section is steep and covered with thick brush.

They are sedentary  State workers, and need more exercise.  We did see 2 dozen Deer prancing across a field. Three Bucks amongst the herd, nice racks.

Can I say 'Nice Racks' here ??  I mean their antlers.

Were they in a ship?

Erin had a nice rack?

Erin is a racky young Lass, indeed.  However, these people are paid to hike through the fields once per year, not to participate in Woodland orgies. They did pet Hüsky though.

They said the fields look good, and indicated that there might be funding for A: Deer Fence and B: Cover-crop planting.

I'm still waiting on some documents that dude was supposed to mail me last year.

Hey, they are State workers. I'm not expecting any sort of highly-energetic activity.

Wait. Youre a farmer?

Wait, you own a dog????

Yes Turtle,

The place I live is "preserved farmland" and so that's why the State sends agents out every year, to check for erosion, or to make sure I'm not building casinos or theme parks out in the fields. Basically, while I can build more barns, I am not allowed to build more houses. There is an exception: I can build another dwelling to house Agricultural workers.

Anyway,  it's good to have more open space rather than developments and warehouses.  Jerseyland has more suburbs and urbs than most states.

^^^ Now I see you guys are pulling my leg.  Ha-Ha; let's prank the hick farmer.  Go grease up Grandma's walker legs, you naughty fellows.

Your title had me going for a minute.

Thought maybe your tree farm might have sanctuary status and Rex got word of it.

maybe he's still waiting for his fedex box of cherry wood for the smoker from the year before >still waiting on some documents that dude was supposed to mail me last year.

Schwarzer --

If I spaced your box of Cherry, my apologies... Would have been Priority USPS, not fedEx.

"... I ran out of gas! I got a flat tire! I didn’t have change for cab fare! I lost my tux at the cleaners! I locked my keys in the car! An old friend came in from out of town! Someone stole my car! There was an earthquake! A terrible flood! Locusts!! IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!! .."

Anyway, I have Cherry splits, and now Apple in stock.  Send me your preferred mailing address and I will get that to you, posthaste.

Another box to the next person I spaced upon.  Internationalfirewood {{{{{at}}}} gmail (((etc.)))

And,  one more for the Road, if anyone else wants a USPS priority box of splits for BBQ. Cherry, Apple, Hickory are there.  Send me the potsage $$ when you eventually get the Wood, OK.

Makes me think of Mr Kimball and Ralph Monroe, Stu.

Thanks, Jaz.  I had to look up your sly "Green Acres" reference.

I am 99 % certain that you actually got a Box O' Wood back when.

Again, those who(m) I spaced upon, send an email and I'll get it together.
