It's funny how sometimes when you randomly type something on the black screen, and then look back at it, you realize it could be a pretty good idea. That's the genesis of this thread.
What I'd like to propose here is a Zoner Zoom Smoke Session sometime during the week of Christmas. Now, I realize that finding a day and time when most folks could participate might be a bit difficult, but I think it's worth trying.
To be clear, you don't have to smoke to participate, but I'm guessing that if this idea takes off, many will partake.
It also occurs to me that this could turn into something like a virtual Zoner Jam, since we have so many talented musicians who post on this board.
So that's my idea. What does the zone think?

Zoom is free video conferencing. Someone hosts the session and invites others. All you need is a web browser and a cam and a mic. A phone would work if you don't mind everybody getting squished together.

You say that like it's a bad thing, 4winds.
I see this as an opportunity for a zoner meet-up, the likes of which we haven't seen in quite some time. Even before the pandemic, opportunities to get together for a puff-puff-pass and to have a few laughs were greatly diminished once Phil stopped touring so much. This is a chance for us to build our community by adding faces and voices to the personalities and personas we encounter here everyday on the black screen. And I, for one, was looking forward to seeing you and Nancy go at it in real time, 4winds, but alas, it seems like that was not meant to be.
We'll miss those who choose not to attend, but I completely understand. Zoom's not the real thing, I get that, but it's the best we've got this year, and if we're not doing the best we can, then what the hell are we doing?

Well now, Racket, that's the logistical dilemma we're facing. We have at least three time zones to consider, unless Floops and Tommy from France decide to attend. I've been thinking that a 2:00 PM EST start time might work. That's 11:00 AM on the west coast, which would mean folks out here wouldn't need to wake and bake, although as far as I'm concerned, that's always an option.
I think our next order of business is to survey what days and times would work for folks. Ned and LLOLLO have chimed in about their availability. What days and times would work for people who are thinking about attending?
I also like Surfdead's idea about awards. Maybe we need a committee to handle that?
