Was I at a super-spreader show tonight, or just a rock show?

Forums:

Well, I worked the Green Day show at Oracle Park tonight (where the Giants baseball team plays) and it was PACKED!

I've been to 21 Giants games this year and not one was close to this full...

(apologies for the blurry shot, I was grooving, what can I say?)

And I was in a small room dealing with complaining people for about five hours, then roaming around the venue.

If I don't get sick from this, I'll be feeling pretty good about being in the world in general.

On it goes.

BTW, whatever one may thing of Green Day, that band still knows how to play a rock 'n roll song.

(And their drummer is still one of the best in the world)

Carry on.

Good luck, Lance.

Green Day? I've never understood what people like about them.

Unfortunately I know of 3 people who attended the Green Day show in NYC a couple of days ago who have tested positive after the show.

I'll take A for $200.

Stay safe Lance

I saw Billie Joe attempt to throw a television off the balcony at the Phoenix Hotel but he only made it about 5 feet because the TV was still plugged in, subsequently dropping it on himself. Unimpressed.

Get tested in a few days.

If you come out unscathed, Lance,  I suggest getting that 3rd booster ASAP. Apparently it offers even more protection against the nasty symptomatic  cases. Masking is efficient too.

I have resigned myself to the possibility of testing positive at some point - even though I'm vaccinated and masked in crowds/indoors. But I'm over being stressed about it because the stats are in our favor - extremely unlikely to become symptomatic or require hospitalization. Life goes on.

(if I had unvaccinated kids or anyone with a compromised immune system in the home, my approach would be much different)

You might not get sick since you've been vaccinated, Lance, but you could very well test positive and become a carrier.  If that's the case, you should isolate yourself until you test negative.  Go Get A Test (GGAT)!

That would impress me, tatters.

I can see myself doing the same thing.

I found out Thursday I  was exposed by an antivaxxer at work.  I got tested same day, negative results came in today.

yes

Jaz - keep getting tested. My wife was with a vaxxed friend who tested positive the next day. Incubation is 4 to 14 days. Protocol is if your vaxxed to test if you get symptoms. We're masking up for quick visits to the store (will probably order online instead) and not socializing with friends for a bit. Tomorrow will be 5 days for me. I'll get a rapid test and then monitor closely since I have a public-facing job with a presumably vulnerable and un-vaxxed population. I'll most likely get another rapid test later in the week as well.

Was Vaxx/negative test required for entry?

important facts for tabulating my vegas parlay...

stay away from me at DNB/TXR

j/k get tested and I wiss you the best

You're not supposed to be grooving when you're working.

And that looks like Shea Stadium.

so long as you were safe

>>>You're not supposed to be grooving when you're working<<<

I was done working at that point, just having a beer while doing a walk-about before leaving.

I plan on getting tested during the Phish shows at Shoreline (and will get the booster as soon as I can) and at this point I'm in the same boat as Nancy, figuring I'm either going to get exposed/sick or stay holed up forever. Neither is appealing, but while doing nothing except hanging around the house all day wasn't so bad when there was nothing to do, now that things are happening that just doesn't work for me. Maybe not the best physical health choice, but mental health matters too.

And no requirements or checks at the show WALSTIB. At least everyone that came into the office I was working in wore a mask, and came it one at a time.

>>>so long as you were safe<<<

I was double-masked the entire time, was careful not to get too close to the people I was dealing with, we had a fan blasting through the door, I used up a small container of hand sanitizer and washed my hands about five times.

What are you gonna' do? The enemy is among us, and sooner or later it's going to make it's way into our world.

How effective is masking at an indoor concert when many fans will remove them to drink?

COVID-19 is a respiratory pathogen that spreads by aerosol droplets — we need to remember that. So, before you pull your mask down to take a sip of that beer or cocktail, step away if you’re in a large crowd.

I've seen plenty of smokers who "step away", but have yet to see a drinker to this ... although it's certainly possible I have, but didn't realize.

Thx for sharing your experience and advice, Andy.

G' luck.

My unvaccinated nephew was there Tom.

Did he have a problem with his tickets?

If so, I'm doomed.
