Was Santana right about Beyoncé ?

Forums:

Yes

What did he say?

That Adele won her Grammy because she can sing-sing.

"With all respect to our sister Beyonce, Beyonce is very beautiful to look at and it's more like modeling kind of music — music to model a dress — she's not a singer-singer, with all respect to her," he said.

I assume someone has explained The Queen's Army to him since.

Sanatana lost all credibility after doing that song with Rob Thomas.

we posted at the same time brian d.  that must be god's way of telling us something.

Yeah I think he's now aware that Trump isn't the only one with an army of stupid followers.

Lol.

Say what you will JR but that time with Rob Thomas is an absolute classic.

>>>>Say what you will JR but that time with Rob Thomas is an absolute classic.

Spoken like someone who thinks Purple Haze is the greatest song ever.

YES, I totally agree with Santana on this. He is a rock hero that actually plays the guitar in real-life while Beyonce is all show, glitz & glam, explosions, and lots of non-substance.

It was a real pleasure watching her mostly lose at the Grammy's last weekend, despite all the hype to prop her up during the lead-up.

Oye Como va and soul sacrifice are his only good songs.  Its all been downhill since Woodstock for him.

Beyonce on the other hand has inspired a whole generation of women and continues to put out provocative and timely music. Her concept album Lemonade while not my cup of tea is better than anything Santana could dream of producing.

No offense but the old white guy zone demographic has no real understanding of pop culture and the pulse of black America.

I really don't know Beyoncé from a ho,e in the ground. Last Sunday we stopped on the Grammys for a few minutes, and it happened to be Beyonce's song. It was pretty fucking trippy, and definitely entertaining. Her voice was fine.

Lol, Timmy. I can't stand purple haze, but it is a classic. Not crazy about hendrix first album. It's whatever. Still better than shootout the lights.

I'm glad you lol'd.  That's how it was meant.  Hope you have a good weekend.

JR, is that the album where Beyoncé takes about giving blow jobs and going to Taco Bell? Yeah, great album. Old white guys listening to Beyoncé is funny.

You too, Timmy. Supposed to be a nice weather.

Is that really what the album is about?

If so, it's definitely not appropriate for Viva. Go wash your mouth out with soap!

Timpane shows his white privledge and ignorance. Thanks for proving my point.

Have you ever been experienced?

What kind of music should old white guys be listening to?

My father is an old white guy. You know what he started listening to in the last 10 years?

The Grateful Dead.

Go figure.

While Santana's statement holds some truth, making comments like that about Beyonce is in poor taste and uncalled for.

Is Santana still with his Afro drummer after dumping his wife of 40 years?

Old white guys>>>>

I dont know, Pat Matheney or something? Yacht Rock?

Im not sure I've ever purposefully pushed play on anything Santana.

I have never cared for Santana too much

But I did see him blow Merryweather to shreds once...91 I think

Anyhow...who cares what he says about Beyonce...lol

wait...

I guess I do...I opened the thread

santana is rad. you guys are dorks.

yes fog, the comment was unnecessary.

beyonce may not be my musical cup of tea, but baby puts back into being a good "performer" for sure.

SANTANA!!!!

JR when you coming down again

you need some cultural transfusions my friend

F'n Ron Campbell beat me to it.  Tho' the "skinny" ship has pretty much set sail.

Beyoncé played Etta James in Cadillac Records and kicked ass. Who else could play her? Not many.

I'm a big fan of santana, beyonce - meh not my cup o tea, but I'm an older white dude so what do I know. I see santana every chance I get just as I do with phil and any other musician that brings me joy

 >>>>>the old white guy zone demographic has no real understanding of pop culture

No - we just don't like it.

I honestly don't know much of Beyonce's music, but I definitely admire her for really stepping up and being a positive force to women everywhere, especially African American women. She's bringing issues to light which make the racist white wingers uncomfortable, to put it lightly. She gets my respect 100%.

I don't pay attention to Santana at all, so his comments don't mean anything to me, and I'm sure she rose above his choice of words like the cool chick she is.

Does Adele's voice alone sell more albums than Beyoncé's act?

JR you just lost any and all credibility with those stupid statements.

you haven't got a clue dude

Yes.

I was breast fed on the sound of drums.  Love early Santana.

ADELE'S voice vs Beyoncé's voice

ADELE

Lotta old white guys in this thread.

Actually.....Lotta old white guys in every thread on the zone.

i wish doober's black deadhead friends would join.

We need some more Hispanic and Asian population as well in the zone. Hard to do, I guess. Phil is an old white guys so I guess it makes sense.

Nanc and Gravy want more upper class people.
