"We all float down here, and you will, too."

I read the book and then kicked myself for wasting so much time. the ending sucks, big time as does the..spoiler alert:

plot involving 11 year olds having a sex orgy to fight the evil. I'm guessing they leave that part out of the movie.

It's been a long time since I read the book,  I remember the sex, but not like a orgy, as you describe it. it was all the kids losing there innocence and becoming one, a group mind? I think all the boys love the girl, anyway it's a goddamn work of fiction for heaven's sake. and I don't remember that in the mini serious, and doubt that's gonna be in the movie.

okay, maybe not an orgy but a group of boys all taking turns banging an 11 year old girl. actually way worse than an orgy. I'm sure Stephen King thought that was a perfectly acceptable way of creating a powerful and bonding experience - for the boys. Yuck. How would you feel if it was a group of all boys, and they had to bang one of their male friends in order to bond? Yeah, I'm going with whacked plot, and totally unnecessary.

Art for fuck's sake. Resist!

You didn't read the book, did you Pool boy?

Do i need to?

"whacked plot" =  50% Of Stephen King's work!

Steven King always writes 700 great pages and then mails in the ending.

It's worth the ride anyway.

>>>the ending sucks, big time

yep

Doubleyup....seems like he just doesnt know how to end his stories...maybe he should start writing backwards

King reminds me of those ghost hunter shows which start out sort of scary, then right when it seems like it's going to get interesting they bring in a completely unbelievable spiritualtist who takes all the spook out of it, and you realize you'll never get that time you wasted trying to scare yourself back.

to be fair, Shawshank and The Dead Zone both had good endings...

Good point about Dead Zone, but definitely the exception there! (I never read Shawshank Redemption and missed the movie so I'll take your word on that one)

Plenty of his novels, stories etc have good endings, but that seems to be exception to the rule...personally, i feel his best stuff is non-horror...or at least non possessed car, dog, little girl, clown etc...

I still love The Stand, The Shining etc..but , both just went on forever...

Still , we re obviously picking apart one of the masters of his craft, though.

^^dise, you should read And def watch the movie Shawshank....the original story appears in a group of short stories of his...its in the same collection of the stories that "The Body" (Stand by Me - movie) was in...i believe the original collection of stories was called Night Shift, but im not positive....anyway, the movie is a must see....great roles for Morgan Freeman, and Tim Robbins.

He is at his best writing short stories. I dig all those collections.

Hated The Stand what a collossal waste of time that book was. The red herring ending in that book turned me off King permanently. No longer willing to read 900+pages for "and then they all died" type ending.

I've recently read the Stand, Carrie, It, Salem's Lot & 11/22/63 (and have just started the 1st Dark Tower book) and enjoyed them all to varying degrees.
