I did a deep dive on this
I did a deep dive on this last night after it started popping up in my Google news feed. Ended up hitting their sub Reddit, Twitter, some YouTube links (including Alex Jones droning on about it, which was painful), and some fringe websites that are searchable with the key word ''Qanon'.
Fantastic stuff. Here's what I gathered:
1.) Q is a group of intelligence agents posting on the Chans who are exposing a worldwide criminal conspiracy known as the Cabal. The Cabal runs a nefarious shadow government known as the '"Deep State".
2.) The Cabal includes all former presidents from George HW Bush>Obama
3.) The Cabal is a vast conspiracy that has enslaved humanity, and engages in satanic child sex rituals
4.) Patriots within the US government decided they needed to fight the Cabal for the very soul of America, and the world!
5.) The Patriots were going to stage a coup to take back America, but instead, they recruited totally awesome and super smart business man and reality TV star Donald J. Trump.
6.) The day of reckoning in upon us! The Q folks believe that "The Storm" is going to be the final battle between the Cabal and the Patriots. From what I could discern, "The Storm" basically involves putting Obama and Hilldog in prison. Oh, also Chelsea Clinton and John McCain.
7.) All of the above mentioned folks are currently wearing ankle monitors, so the Patriots can keep a close eye on them, and presumably prevent them from raping any more kids.
8.) The Mueller investigation is not about Russia. No, my friends; the Mueller investigation is actually a cover for the real investigation (which Trump and Mueller are actually collaborating on!) which is about the crimes against humanity committed by the Cabal.
9.) Trump might actually be Q.
10.) God Him/Herself has ordained "The Storm", and appointment Trump the savior of humanity.
Not making any of this^ up. This is all shit that the Q "investigators" (also called "Bakers") actually believe.
This has to be one of the greatest internet trolls of all time, and I tip my hat to whomever is posting as Q. Truly brilliant work.

I'm so with you here, Bucky. My wheels were turning too once I saw the merchandise.
So, here's an observation about the Q thing. They're using that same trick Alex Jones uses (he does this really, really well btw) where they reference something obscure but factual, encourage readers to research it "for themselves", then pile a bunch of conjecture and conspiracy on top.
Basically, this technique has the effect on some readers of validating the conjecture/conspiracy stuff once they discover the factual veracity of the obscure reference.
It's a pretty clever little trick, if your audience is, um, impressionable (I'm being kind here, obviously).
