Weed Question 2

Forums:

http://hightimes.com/medicinal/what-is-cannabinoid-hyperemesis-syndrome

This (CHS) has been recently widely reported and I wonder if anyone here may have heard of or experienced it. Given the relative lack of official research and its sudden emergence in the era semi-legality, it probably should have been present before since people did not just now start using cannabis more heavily. This would seem to qualify as 'fake news' but there do appear to be some respected medical professionals and affected users coming forward. The hot shower diagnostics/remedy seem a little weird but nonetheless safe with no unfavorable side effects anyway. At least there is no big pharma "solution" being pushed....yet.

If true, I tend to think it may at least be partially related to the stronger and more aggressive fertilizer products and schedules seemingly being implemented these days but NOT properly flushed out at the end of the growing cycle. From what I have read and understand, some of the key steps in that process are flush, dry, and cure - steps that seem to be rushed or cut out in today's industrialized farming environment (ie most dispensary cannabis?).

Side story: I knew of a San Diego County grower years ago that was VERY aggressive with fertilizers (to the point of heavy "crystallization" on the main stalks - gross!) whom typically brushed aside those end-game steps, resulting in obviously nasty results...shitty flavor, black ash when burned, and, yep, weird feelings in the stomach, similar to the shifty, twisted up sensation from eating cluttered L. Sort of like quality beer, small batch details and care do tend to matter....but I dunno, I am no expert.

Discuss.

...sorry, I will piggyback this with Weed Question #3. Please let me know if the proper etiquette would be to start yet another related thread...possibly a redundant topic here but Got "Cannabis Folder"?):

Anyway, I seem to also recall reading about cannabis "addiction" and over the past several years and some theories being floated were drawing associations between longer term use of the same or very similar genotypes/phenotypes and I am looking for feedback, input, "expert knowledge", etc. It would seem that some growers, through cloning, seeding, etc - and those folks for whom they may supply or regular dispensary shoppers who buy/use same same - may gravitate towards or tend to stick with the same 'brand' may have experience with this or can knock it down altogether.

This may have been covered here before or on PZ in the past, hence the 'change your strain' mantra but anyway....

Carry On and Weekend Cheerz to all!

My daughter the doc had a patient with CHS - it's real but rare - and it's not a queasy feeling, when they say hyper emesis they mean it.  This poor guy would collapse and end up in the ER needing bags of IV rehydration.

"Dude, life is unfair, weed's no big deal for most people, but not for you, find something else."

I would like to talk about this subject but the assholes have taken over the thread ad nauseam.................

I would as well Catch. This is currently a serious topic for our family right now.

catch, feel free to continue posting even though 11 12 13 is here...

What really complicates this is an initial CVS diagnosis, where a suggested treatment is cannabis. It's starting to look like in some cases that might be causing the issue. Really sad and frustrating for the folks that have it and their caregivers.

It sounds like this is a frustrating disease with such serious consequences. I hope you and McDoobie can discuss it, Catch, it seems like it's time sensitive.

Don't think this disease is as big as they say it is. Alcohol, cigarette, law enforcement, big pharma, prison industrial complex & drug rehabilitation complex have allot to lose as in billions of dollars.

DONT FORGET TO FLUSHheart

I had it oakster, My dr hit the nail on the head with the hot showers and baths. I had it in combination with another drug. CVS is not a joke. neither is it's counter part.  I quit thr ssri and was fine.  when I went back on the SSR! back came the cvs......I am fine with no seratonin re-uptake inhibitors.............

Mike we have discussed this before no?

Yes we have Catch. And I've discussed this thread with her and I think the two of you need to chat at some point. That shower thing is no joke. Hang in there buddy.

well I can take western medicine that makes me sick when used with cannabis or quit on or the other I think cannabis helps more with my depression than the ssri's so I am staying natural all the way(100% organic only) and have not had a problem. It is ONLY when I try to be on both that I end up in the emergency room, which gets scarier with each birthday. Which attack causes the fatal heart attack???????..Sometime I think I am gonna die from the nausea....., in the shower for a half hr at a time. I am glad I am not the only one.
