We're Having a Heat Wave

Forums:

It hit 100 the last couple of days up where I live at an elevation of about 4500'. It only got down to the low 70s last night, and I woke up to pushing 90 by 9:00 AM this morning. Things are supposed to shift the first part of next week to much cooler temps, but it's going to be a blazing weekend.

Ick.

128 in Death Valley...

Sure, but that's down there. It supposed to be hellish in DV in the summer, not in the mountains.

You read my mind, Bss.

its only been sunny like 2 days out of the last 90....

Luckily, we had a bit of cloud cover yesterday and today so far. I just hope we don't get any dry lightning.

Damn Turtle, that's a lot of fog.

Been nice on the Marin coast, hot as hell inland. I'm in San Rafael and it's about 95.

(As I type this, a Doctor is injecting silicone into my foot. Ouch).

And thankfully no wind or we'd be fucked.

and constant westerlies or south, which is to be expected this time of year. just a lot of it this season.

June gloom'd

Get ready for Fogust.

It's 'only' 83 degrees in the SE SFV today but still feels a bit toasty, with a "real feel" of 90.

Was 111 here yesterday.  109 is high so far today.  I have a new weatherstation in my backyard and a standalone conventional thermometer that have been jiving perfectly.  6-8 degrees hotter than what the NWS reports.

Where is that, MarkD?

Here's a site everyone might enjoy if you're into weather observations (lots of options on the menus)

National Weather Service "Weather & Hazards Data Viewer".

Just checked my thermometer in the shade: 72.

San Rafael and Mill Valley were quite uncomfortable today.

The number on the left was my morning LOW temp! 6:09 AM

We keep our AC @ 80 here in the Desert.

Shit, man, all of ya. That's pretty damn hot.

 usda zone 6a, humid, subtropical

been in the mid nineties for the week with substantial humidity....real feel temp is "swamp ass"

lived in WI for a decade and dealt with 30 to 40 below temps and wind chills. I prefer the heat to the cold. Car starts, water flows through pipes, no snow packed roads for 3 months, etc.

Edit: Hi, jaz :-)
