in my dads balls

I was in Fribourg, Switzerland. I went to college there for a year. On Dec 8, 1980, my bank teller, who I was quite friendly with, told me in French that John Lennon had been killed, but my French vocabulary was limited,, and I didn't know the word "Tue` " meant "killed", so he had to make a pistol with his fingers so I could understand. When I got it, all I could do was shake my head...'I read the news today...'

MNF, same as Slick.

Howard Cosell on the sad play-by-play. Just walked outside in the falling snow for hours, then closed down a bar at Rutgers in NJ

My folks woke me up. It was a family bummer. sigh.

oh and good luck with the college stuff!

A cute as hell preschooler

At home with my girlfriend at the time.  Our favorite band, good friends, was playing a gig in town but we decided not to go, headed down after we heard to let them  know the news.  Walked into the bar and  heard them break into "I've Just Seen a Face", someone had just told them about it. Spent the entire next day out at his house talking about John.

Remember people driving with their headlights on at noon as a remembrance one of two days afterward?

i was in 8th grade, home in bed sick and listening to WPLJ - Marc Goodman and taping a Doors special on the radio when they broke in and announced that something had happened and that reports were coming in that he was shot and then he played ' Jesus is just alright with me ' by the Doobies and when that ended he came on to announce that he was dead...

7th grade, getting ready for school.  Mom told me he was shot, I asked "did he die?" and she said yes.  It was very sad, standing in the cold, waiting for the bus and its 45 minute ride to school.....I remember that morning very well.

I was there when it John Lennon was shot; I was one the XMAS revelers from the Rockefeller plaza that marched up the avenue, then across to Belvue hospital.

Worst night of my life, can not IMAGINE what would provoke a death thread of such a very very special person in the holiday season ~

>> what would provoke a death thread

Well, he died.

All Is i Remember I Was with My Friend Mike Bullock = We Were  Devastated and Smoked Thai Stick in Johns Honor.

We poisoned ourselves

On that night December 8th, 1980, the place to be  was watching the grateful dead playing a benefit in mill valley for special needs kids

Legend has it  Jerry Garcia bought ice cream for all...

Some one made a mini movie a couple of days ago

Bluelight, Mill Valley was 12/6, not 12/8.

The next Dead show was 12/12, Swing Auditorium, San Bernardino.

They played He's Gone.

Swing Aud was destroyed when a small plane hit it on 9/11/81.
