At this point, bickering from either "side" is pointless if the worst is true re: Trump being "compromised". So what if he's more hypocritical or out entirely for himself, most of us know this to one extent or another. What's important is keeping the eye on the ball and flushing out the truth sooner than later; at which point, deal with whatever may or may not present itself and move on. It's going to take a bi-partisan effort & ruffling the feathers of those who might be swayed is not productive, IMO.
As a "negotiator", he strikes me as one to carry out either a bluff or an agenda until the last possible card has been played. And if there is something he's hiding, the longer it goes on, the deeper the hole he might be digging for himself ... at which point he might realize he's in it way too deep and will dig in further. More involved military action as a deflective tool will be appealing to him. If foreign interests do "have something on him", the longer this gets dragged out, the more potential damage can be done on this front too. What if there's something so bad on him that he realizes he could ultimately be executed?

Agreed (although I'm Independent) ... there's a very weird dynamic at play where people are forgetting how they've voted for "the lesser of two evils" & simply want to win political arguments and support their "original choice".
The question that is most telling to me is: "what are the odds of a former first lady" becoming a Senator, SOS, and POTUS ... simply by "chance"?
There are soooooooooooo many qualified individuals who could easily be plucked from academia, business, gov ... that are exceptionally qualified. However, with the giant mousetraps known as DNC or GOP, and "gatekeepers" such as DWS, the deck is clearly stacked. The process needs a paradigm shift to remove the incentive to mass power. There has been very little in the way of admission on this front & I have zero faith it's been rehabilitated to date.
As an Independent who is mostly fiscally conservative and socially liberal, at this point, I'd easily get behind either party that clearly and unquestionably implemented some sort of "double blind" nomination process that scoured our country from coast to coast and from northern to southern borders across all stripes.
