Whoa John Havlicek died

Forums:

I guess he really WAS putting his life on the line for us every night

The early era Larry bird

he did it all

They broke the mold when they made John Havlicek. What a ballplayer. The Celtics teams of that era were something special and he was a big part of that. What tenacity.

Heard it announced during the Bruins hockey game last night.

Hondo...my first "favorite" player...i dont remember the series in 65 when he "stole the ball!!" ( to help clinch a championship or conferance championship, actually,  i think)....but, i sure recreated that play a million times on the back yard court w my older brothers for years and years after...he was also the original "best 6th man in basketball", as he was used as a sparkplug for years before he became a starter

Sure would be fun to see THAT Celtic team play the Warriors!

RIP HONDO

Cowens, Jo Jo White, Silas and Johnny Most calling Havilcek stole the ball was my first basketball team.

With the three point shot the Warriors would destroy them. Without it the three point shot and refs calling the games the way they did in that era the Celtics would win easily.

The "call" comes from 65 vs Philly in cnfrnc finals...celtic team that year was led by Russell, Heinson, Kc and Sam Jones, Satch Sanders, and Havlicek....oh, ya , big John Thompson was on that team too....but, my first "favorite " team was also the Cowens, JoJo era...

Satch Sanders, Bill Russell, Sam + KC Jones, Don Nelson, Larry Siegfried + Hondo

My 1st Celtic Dynasty

Havlicek was a great player thru 2, almost 3 great Celtic powerhouse teams. Never be another tough sob like him.

RIP JH - Enjoy a stogie with Red
