I don't understand why anyone would "hate" Taylor Swift. First off, she is one hell of a songwriter and she is just coming into the time when great songwriters get epic. While my opinion might not influence many, Bruce Springsteen, Steve Earle, Elvis Costello Carol King (all pretty good songwriters on their own) has all given her the moniker of great songwriter. She also seems to be a decent human as well. I look forward to what is in her future.
I was recently asked to join a Taylor Swift cover band, it's a lot more challenging than you might think (and a lot of fun, the audience is pretty much all women who sing along with EVERY song).

She writes her own songs, takes great care of her fans and GREAT care of her crew, she encourages her fans to VOTE, she stuck it to the Man when she re-recorded her earlier albums to control her masters which is a gangsta move especially for a woman, and overall as a role model she's pretty darn cool. I'm in.
I Iike a lot of her songs, very well written and sung in a country-pop vein. But that has to be a style of music you like if you're going to like Taylor Swift. One thing I don't think anyone can deny is that she has an INSANE work ethic, and she takes really good care of her people. But whether or not anyone likes her music is, of course, subjective and a matter of opinion, just like with anyone who likes the Dead, etc.
When it comes to the music no because that is subjective, but she plays guitar and piano on stage and she has written lyrics that have deeply impacted millions of people in incredibly hooky songs. She also in her spare time runs a billion dollar company all while singing her entire live set daily while running on a tread mill so she is prepared for her performances. I don't remember hearing about Jerry doing that.
Taylor Swift is an incredible artist who gave one of the top 5 greatest concert experiences in my life this past summer!
The Grateful Dead played adventurous improvisational music that you're either IN or OUT of as a fan.

I'd say anyone who's a Deadhead whether I know them personally or not is someone looking and seeking Adventure, and for that fact alone I'll always be proud to be a fan.
