Anyone else watch this besides me? I have always been a fan of the women's college game and got putled in with the Kaitlyn hype. Great story lines, every Karen in MAGA has a stupid opinion, the games can be very good, and it's too early to watch baseball for me. Kaitlyn is an excellent player but I don't watch it because of her. Olivia Miles imo should be MVP and rookie of the year, unbelievable on how she carried her team when Phee was out. Like the NBA the league is player driven and almost all the teams have an interesting player or two, and it is only going to get better.

I used to watch UConn women back in the day. I'm a hardcore 76ers fan and it's exciting that there's going to be a woman's team coming in the next few years.
Otherwise it's one of those things that I wish I was more invested in but just don't seem to have the time

Over the years I barely knew
Over the years I barely knew there was a league, but since Caitlin Clark became national news and then the Bay Area got a team I have begun to pay nominal attention, and the main thing that stands out to my admittedly limited exposure is that there seems to be a possibly conscious effort to create and amplify feuds and there is a noticeable amount of seriously aggressive behavior, almost more pro wrestling than pro basketball.
One of the things I've always liked about women's sports is the generally more classy approach, not so much of the constant "IN YOUR FACE"! posturing that dominates so much of men's sports these days.
It seems that I see clips of flagrantly violent play almost every week where I think, "Damn, people think Draymond Green is a thug, but he's never done THAT."
I can't help but think that because our entire society is obsessed with feuding & fighting over everything, to some degree this is premeditated by the league to create interest, which generates money.
For me personally I find all the hacking and sniping to be distracting, but I also understand that all of that is certainly a small part of the league and since I don't really follow the league closely I'm only seeing those sensational bits on the highlight shows, but then again, it's that behavior that is so often highlighted on TV and social media that makes me wonder if it's all just a bit calculated.
But whether it is calculated or just another example of our devolving society interest in the league is exploding, so I fully expect all that to continue.
Either way...

The NBA really took off on
The NBA really took off on the Bird vs Magic rivalry before that it had fallen into a drug haze. in both instances the rivalry is press driven. The press also loves to over report any foul on a white player that is a flagrant 1 or 2, by a black player, MAGA eats that up, and is what is also driving the popularity of the league exactly like the Bird vs. Magic race card thet was played by the press and not downplayed by the league. Hell, baseball for years rode the steroid bus, raking in the cash every mile of the way with Macguire vs. Sosa. This is Ringling Bros and Barnum and Bailey just like the men's leagues.
The fouls are the fouls, the women do not make it look as graceful as the men's game, but they are still making the correct play on taking players out on open layups. That's the play that gets the hype. It is the same as the men's game if they went to far a review is done and a T is given. Same with the hacks, they are not men and not as fluent with their movements, but it's the same game.
The league will only get better as the talent gets better. Right now there are not that many elite players, and some of the talent is still at dishwasher levels as you go down the bench. The game has come a long way from the beginnings with Pat Summitt.
The Draymond comment - I'm not taking the bait, I did get a chuckle out of it.
I see Draymond possibly being the next Charles Barkley as he enters his post playing career. He does a nice job on his podcast and such stuff.
