Ok, so I don't normally do a lot of long posts or reviews here even though I've been around for a long while. But anyway here I go with my 2 cents.
1st Set - GDTRFB, Little Red Rooster, Odessa, Catfish John, Mexicali Blues, Loose Lucy, Blackbird > Around and Around
2nd Set - Me & Bobby McGee, Gonesville, China Cat > I Know You Rider, Dear Prudence, Ashes and Glass, Morning Dew
Encore - Touch Of Grey
I thoroughly enjoyed the show.
I saw the full Wolf Brothers with the Wolf Pack in February of 2023, and was truly impressed because I thought it was very different from anything I had seen from Bobby previously. I thought they were even better last New Year's Eve. This year New Year's Eve was disappointing, they seemed mostly out of sync or unrehearsed. Not at all like last year. though there were a few high points. I thought the Dark Star > Eyes segment was the highlight of the evening with outstanding solos from the Trumpet player and the Violin player.
The Wolf Brothers Trio was quite different than the full Wolfpack. I didn’t really know what kind of show we were going to get. Thought it would be a lot of acoustic Americana stuff or a lot of Bob’s recent solo material. Glad I was wrong. His voice was strong and the tempos were good. I feel sometimes he gets a bad rap or lot of flak, for a lot of reasons. Maybe because he’s not Jerry or Phil. Or maybe it's just the way he sees and does things at this point. I never saw a lot Ratdog shows, though I did happen to see them in Central Park the night before Jerry died. I actually preferred the stuff he did with Kingfish and Bobby and The Midnights. But what he is, is just a fabulous rhythm guitar player who can do so much and was spot on last night. Mexicali was worth the price of admission alone. He ripped it. I was also finally able to focus on Don Was more so than I could with the full Wolf Pack, and came away impressed. He stayed on the electric all night even though the upright was on stage. He is a really good bass player. Based on last night's performance I'm sorry I'm not going back tonight. But I will if they come around again.
I posted this because I felt that Bobby doesn't get the credit he deserves for everything he's done including his role in the Grateful Dead. Yeah he's older and following a different path, but enjoy him while you can, for as we learned with Phil, the end is closer than we would like.

Thanks for the post. I do
Thanks for the post. I do feel like Bobby shines most when it's less of a rock sound and more of a folksy americana take.
Looks like a fun show.
Needs more Barry ;)

Bob you are spot on, at 77 he
Bob you are spot on, at 77 he is slowing down as we all are, I'm in a spot in my life where he can play whatever he wants and I will accept it.
the show as very fun and Don is a great bass player
every show has his ups and downs with hopes of hearing my favorite tunes but to be honest I felt Blackbird was a very rough rendition but Prudence made up for it
tonught is 6 of 6 and we are looking forward to it, sound check had a PeggyO That will make my night
the only real shitty part last night was a chick trying to steal a purse in front of me, I kicked her in the ankle hard and she dropped the loot and ran
not everyone is your friend folks

Yeah Tim, I agree that
Yeah Tim, I agree that Blackbird was the weakest song of the night, but it was unexpected. And yes I also agree he can play whatever the fuck he wants. He's earned that right. That purse thing is ridiculous. You've got enough bread to afford a ticket but you have to steal a purse. Bad karma coming her way for sure. Besides your kick. Next time there's a show in this neck of the woods we need to try and hook up before it. Think it would be a hoot to finally meet you.

Hey Tim, I've never seen
Hey Tim, I've never seen Grass is Dead. But we used to see Crazy Fingers a lot at Boston's in Delray when we used to come down from Jersey on Xmas and Easter vacations before we moved to St Lucie in 2020 after we retired. I did see Billy Gilmore when he was part of that group.
