Spent the Memorial Day weekend camping up at Hornings Hideout with a few friends and their kids. I have been up there countless times for music festivals, parties, and weddings, but not just to camp. It was great to be able to enjoy all the amenities without the crowds and it was especially nice for the little kids, who were going camping for their first time.
Saturday night was pretty rainy but we managed. Hiked up a muddy hill at the back of the property looking for a cell signal, but none was to be found. It was kind of nice not having access to emails, internet, etc. for a few days:
No problem finding a great, flat camping spot in a choice location. Our only neighbors packed up and booked because of the rain on Saturday night, giving us even more room.
The pond was open for fishing (they close it for festivals) and caught a bunch of trout:
Got to check out the main stage too. I have played on that stage before at one of the Hootenannies, but it was really dark then and couldn't see much.
Of course, the peacocks were around and being as loud as usual. Didn't know they slept up the trees and it was fun watching one of the big ones hop from branch to branch way up into a big tree.
Bob was a great host and with his personal attention to detail and emphasis on guest satisfaction, he is sort of the Bill Graham of the Oregon Coast Range. Looking forward to NWSS in July.
