Wow people get so touchy about "scalping" wtf

Forums:

So I ended up with 12 extras for Phish NYE because a few of my crew are in rehab and I want to recoup my money and maybe make some extra for expenses.

I go on stubhub and bam I see they are going for like $300 a piece so MAJOR SCORE NYC is gonna RAGE and then some people from another crew started giving me shit about being a scalper because I wouldn't sell them tickets at face. Tough shit I say. If those wooks wanted tix then they need to get their act together OR fork over some of that BHO money.

are you kind?

C+ trolling, at best.

Too easy a subject.

Weak trolling attempt.

That being said: folks that sell tickets for more than face should be dipped in honey and tied down over a fire ant hill.

I'm not a big fan of scalping, but I WILL admit that I have gratefully accepted a ticket offered for free or less-than-face-value for a show that I wasn't necessarily planning to attend at the price originally advertised.

So, that may appear inconsistent.  I will add that I don't like it when people/businesses buy up tickets with the express intent on making money off of people who were shut out.

Then there's the reward of good "Karma" or other social/emotional benefits when providing another fan with an unexpected ticket at face or below.  For me, from either end of the transaction, it makes the whole musical experience that much more enjoyable.  It's happened that way many times in my life.  Part of the "Good Stuff"

My 2 cents.

((crews))

>>> then some people from another crew started giving me shit

let me guess... Italians?

>>>So I ended up with 12 extras for Phish NYE

lol

>>>a few of my crew are in rehab

sorry to hear some of your middle aged frat bros are down.

Tickets are like real estate. Buy low, sell high.

We'd like to buy a house for the cost of labor and materials.

I still have that image in my mind of day laborers standing in line in front of the Berkeley Greek, several hours before the Phish gig.

For some reason, this thread reminds me of that photo...and wondering how Trump might address that situation.

I just hope that you buy a bunch of blow with all that cash.

You know, in honor of your rehab krew and all.

Soprano crew.

> I WILL admit that I have gratefully accepted a ticket offered for free or less-than-face-value

JohnnyD, reverse scalper!!!!!

Et tu, Brute?.......

one time I bought 4 tix and scalped 2 for twice face.

no way I was gonna to pay to see the Eagles!

^Did that for '81 Stones.

Business Hippie...Harold & Kumar

Troll thread, I second the motion.

My dad got us all (My 2 brothers my sister, me and he and his friend) Super Bowl tickets for the 1983 Dolphins-Redskins game in the parking lot for $50 a piece. I think that was face value. I still have the stub but am too lazy to look for it. Incredible game. He also bought a 1984 opening ceremony Olympic ticket for face (or so he said) maybe he didn't want my mom to know what he really paid. But I believe him.. Best seat in the house. First row, 50 yard line sitting next to John Forsythe and Linda Evans. He's got incredible pics of it.

And is it wrong to scalp a ticket to Streisand's last tour ever for a nice profit Or the world series? Or is it just a jam band no no?

I'll take 2

over face is douchey period...

makes sense, into phish and have a fucked up crew.

I gave away a number of jamband tix since, so me and the karmas are cool

So if your house is appraised at $200,000 but someone offers you $500,000 you wouldn't sell it to him for that but give him the appraisal price?

> makes sense, into phish and have a fucked up crew.

lol

a house is not a ticket, phi beta kappa...

supply vs. demand

And I'm playing the devils advocate here. Never sold a GD ticket for profit. I in fact lost money because of service charges. Might have sold other ones for a slight profit but only a few bucks over.

And to turtle, crazy scenario I know but say the Beatles got back together for 1 show and you had tickets and people were offering $50,000 a ticket but they only cost $100. Would you sell it for $100?

yes....well unless it was to an uber custie...wink

i am also not a fan of house flipping.

I call BS! But well never know right.

at least house flippers add extra value and save the new owner from what can be a bunch of major hassles, plus it's not like they are somehow able to sell for higher than comparables in the area...

SCALPERS-FEED1.jpg

im going to night 1 and even though tickets are going for 45.00 and will be less DOS i would never dream of taking advantage of someone who paid full price and is stuck with a extra.

"I KNOW THEY ARE GOING FOR 20.00 BUT PLEASE TAKE 80.00. ITS NOT FAIR THAT YOU LOSE MONEY"laughlaugh

Nice rewrite eddiefrog.

thanks joe
