21st Century Schizoid Man

The drums of Hells Hounds is awesome ^. I came home from the King Crimson concert and had to know what that piece was.

They opened with it at the show at the Paramount in Huntington Long Island.  3 drummers killing it, with the middle drummer chasing SMPTE time codes, drummer to the left had real gongs going and John Bonham like, the drummer to the right was the best drummer I have seen other then Carl Palmer. Young guy too.

Caught them up in Seattle, great show as always!

Paul Simon - Graceland

Bluegrass Junction on Sirius XM

Nice set list ^ Heard Apostrophe today.

XM broadcast at 3:3am  GD 6/24/76 from Philadelphia.

I was looking forward to this, because I am not aware of a soundboard recording and if its an audience recording, the taper most probably used reel to reels.

I woke up at 4:15 with the Little Dipper shining brightly and to this amazing audience recording with a very good version of Comes A Time.

XM will re broadcast this show ths week, check it out if you can..

Jazz

Youtube vortex.

Jerry side projects right now.

Various versions of Angel From Montgomery earlier (I was way overdue to learn a Prine tune).

^

Thanks Brian. I love that song and need to take out Susan Tedeskieks (sp) CD with that out right now here at the Library.

Jerry covered Angel from Montgomery?

Just took it out.

Susan Tedeschi -  Just Won't Burn (2001)

"Angel from Montgomery" is track 10.

The Flesh Eaters

XM is broadcasting the grateful dead show from Hampton 3.22.87.

First set just finishing up with The Deal.

Going to play my first CD in a car in 18 years tonight, that Susan T. Cd above.

>>Various versions of Angel From Montgomery earlier (I was way overdue to learn a Prine tune).

I meant to get the Bonnie Raitt version, I am pretty disappointed to see how redundant Susan Tedeschi was from the first phase of her career already...

XM broadcast at 3am: Grateful Dead from Paris France, May 3rd, 1972 & it was very good.

Got high as the sun rose & caught Martin Briley's "You and Worth the Salt in my Tears".

Each day has a killer rocker as the sun rises. The other day it was Aerosmith's "No More, No More"

The mellow song of the morning was George Harrison's "All things Must Pass"

90 minutes in and nothing truly cringe-worthy yet.smiley

Haven't looked at the setlist, but my guess is Bobby will murder some Jerry ballad before this done.

Neil Young - On the Beach

^Best record Neil ever made IMO

I've started a new project just to listen to some stuff I haven't heard in awhile, my fav 3 cd's of an artist today, Dire Straits

Making Movies

Brothers In Arms

Love Over Gold

>>my fav 3 cd's of an artist today, Dire Straits

how is their first not on there...it's the best?!

I'll give you the first MIght be better than Love Over Gold , but it pales in comparission to the other 2 IMO

After Bathing At Baxter's

Bless Its Pointed Little Head

Volunteers

Squeezing Out Sparks

Howlin' Wind

Heat Treatment

to be followed by

Jesus Of Cool

Labour Of Lust

Seconds Of Pleasure

>I'll give you the first MIght be better than Love Over Gold , but it pales in comparission to the other 2 IMO

WRONG no it doesn't. The first record is just more of a pop album. I'm hella suspicious of you now

WRONG no it doesn't. The first record is just more of a pop album. I'm hella suspicious of you now

First off its all good, second it's mine opinion so be suspicious if you want, maybe I just prefer their more "adult" theme music and less their pop

I didn't say the first wsn't good just if I'm playing DS cd's the 3 I picked are the ones I want to hear

You said it paled in comparison which is fuckin wrong dude. Keep backtracking, it's all good

A better assessment would be that the 2nd album pales in comparison to the first one

and in my opinion it does, my opinion is mine doesn't make you right and me wrong

making movies? really, might be their best work, only 1 bad track on it

Dire Straits first record is their defining album. Period. It is the rock upon which all of the others are built. Saying you like Brothers in Arms more is totally fine but saying that the first pales in comparison makes me think you are deaf. The first is a perfectly OK subjective opinion, the second is ridiculous. You're not saying the same thing

the second is ridiculous

In your OPINION, I'm done with this, I misunderstood I thought this was a place to share thoughts and opinions on music, IMO you are being very hostile to a new poster. I don't love the first as much as you sorry to upset you, and I don't believe I ever said it wasn't good. Some people like Nebraska others think its Springsteen's worst record, music provoke's feeling obviously I've hurt your's in regard to DS. I'll cease posting if this is what I can except in the future

Order in the thread!  Everyone take a step back.  Hotnanny- are you really a hot nanny?

Elvis - don't leave the building!

Making Movies is a great album and that band was using a storyboard approach on that records production & should have stuck to that, but these new digital gadgets took too mich mind share from the star of that band.

The final album Brothers in Arms has as good as songs a George Harrison album. But it was totally digital (8bit)

Times has not been kind to it as part of the Dire Straits small body of work

I would have walked Mark into the men's room with a Narda two track recorder, with one guitar and vocal and taped those tracks there in the men''s room, one take only & that would have been it.

He has a great voice & the songs on BIA's are very very good. But the synth ruins every single song accept the title track

I have the sheet music for BIA if anyone wants it, let me know.
