The car they were traveling in — a light blue 2004 Honda Civic hybrid with California plates — was found abandoned June 8 in an orchard at 8100 Lateral B Road in Toppenish, said Casey Schilperoort, public information officer for the Yakima County Sheriff’s Office.
Those with information regarding the men’s whereabouts, what happened to them or events leading up to their disappearance are asked to call the sheriff’s office at 509-574-2500, reference case No. 19C09726.

No question there are bad egg natives and that's why I said "non-whites". Hispanic gangs trying to throw off the law would dump bodies on the res just to stick it to the natives. Much of what goes down is gangs/perps vs rivals vs decimated drug dependent individuals. They tend not to mess with citizens (doing so will bring the heat hot and haevy and they can play just as hard as any gang banger) so to speak and hence it doesn't get a load of press. View of some is let them do each other in. There are no secrets on the res... just people who won't talk. Res is big and natives could make things disappear no question. Traveling from Piercy, California to the Gorge Amphitheater takes one through Yakima, to suggest they were engaged in nefarious activity is highly speculative and somewhat illogical, if they were seeking x, y or z [as some are seemingly hypothesizing] they would have a better chance finding whatever you're eluding to at the parking lot of the venue than asking random locals they happened upon in Yakima, that just doesn't make sense.

a kid in his early 20s traveling with a 40+ year old man with a long string of arrests for violent crimes to a dead show is a perfect breeding ground for nefarious activity...i dont think its illogical at all. ive seen this type of situation many, many many times in both the GD world and black market cannabis industry, and its very rarely some kind of unicorn and rainbows "family" thing...its usually predatory. im sorry but in my experience 40+ year old men with histories of arrest for violent crime that want to hang out with kids in their early 20's are almost always bad news. ive been there, ive been that teenager or 20 year old rolling around with some creepy immature drug using grown ass man and ive seen it plenty of times with other kids. its always been bad news.

I found out through mutual friends Saturday evening, within an hour or so I posted this thread in the hope that someone may know someone who may know something about what may have happened, given the fact that these guys may have been victims of a horrific crime I'd ask that you reserve judgment until the facts surface. The reason I posted the suggested route from Piercy to the Gorge was to illustrate that it makes very little sense to have driven all that way and be an hour or so from the venue, then stop in Yakima to hit up random locals for this or that...to me, it just seems somewhat implausible.
It's an unspeakably sad situation, I haven't written any books on how to proceed, I just thought that given the scenario they were en route to a Dead & Co. show that it may be beneficial in some way to post the information on this message board...if I could do something more effective I would. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and input, as well as your prayers for a positive outcome, although the investigation has shifted to a homicide investigation, they don't know that it is a certainty and stranger things have happened than these guys are alive somewhere. Regardless of the circumstances surrounding their disappearance, it is indeed a horrific situation for the families. Hopefully these gentlemen are found safe. This is a nightmare scenario for any parent, and i hope that Mr Hildebrand's mother has the support she needs. Sorry to read this.
Brainstorming thoughts about it...if there's a dynamic that gives any cause for optimism at all it might be that it just seems so unfathomable, that is to say I can't recall having ever heard of a similar situation anecdotally, 2 able bodied men disappear 90 miles or so from their destination [after a 10 hour drive] without a trace and a month goes by and they can't figure out what happened? I realize it may just be wanting to find any reason to remain hopeful, but it doesn't make any sense, so much so that maybe there's reason to believe it's not what it appears to be.
The recent LA Times article mentioned the texts from Jon's phone essentially saying they were almost to the venue...that kind of rules out any thoughts of them taking a quick excursion to an Indian reservation in the middle of the night. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's so illogical in a "big picture" perspective that maybe it's not as it appears [if that makes any sense].

I'm unaware of any developments in the last day or so, it's discouraging, but I remain hopeful. I've never heard of a crime scenario that makes less sense. Something seems completely "off" about the whole thing. Jon texts his buddies that are waiting for him at the venue that they are 90 minutes or so away at more or less the exact spot the car was located, he could have sent a text saying they were in danger, or they had picked up a hitchhiker, or that they were going to stop at an Indian reservation for the evening, but he texted the people who were waiting for them to arrive that they would be there shortly, I suppose if there's a significant development, in my opinion that would be it [per the LA Times article].
That may be a lot of people's first reaction, I get that...but the guy was at Shoreline, then the Hollywood Bowl, and according to his friend planned on doing the east coast dates...then is 80 miles away from the Gorge, texts his friends he's about to arrive, and then does what? I just don't think it makes sense, I get that people may think that it does given his past, but I don't think it makes sense, if anything, he would be the kind of guy that could probably defend himself from a perpetrator, be it a hitchhiker or a carjacking, I don't believe he attacked Josiah, so I get that he has a sordid past, but I'm not sure that implicates him. As far as that lending credence to the theory that he was looking for something prior to arriving on the lot, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, 80 miles from the concert venue, it seems like one would have a much better chance finding whatever they might be looking for at the parking lot of the venue. All I'm saying, is something seems very "off" about the whole thing, so much so that it may not be as it appears...also, the fact that they just vanished without a clue seems odd in this day and age.
Unless one or both of them don't want to be found I'm thinking that they ran off of the road somewhere.
Before cell service I was searching for a friend that was MIA for a week. I had lent several k's of trees to him and was thinking of every bad scenario.
He fell asleep at the wheel on 684 in NY and crashed down an embankment. The steering wheel and broken bones had him pinned in his truck. A NY state cop, who after 3 days of catching a strange reflection in his mirrors as he passed, found him and saved his life. He lived to beat me a few years later for bunch of $$, eventually OD'd and passed. He was one hell of a drummer.

That's assuming one of them didn't have a connection in the Yakima area. Given their backgrounds and travels you can't rule that out.
I have high placed friends in the tribe, chiefs daughter. She is as sharp as they come, a ray of light and the definition of upstanding and wouldn't associate with the dark side that drags their culture down. Like I said previously - just because the car was found on tribal land doesn't mean the tribe had anything to do with them or know anything. I would suspect gangs first for several reasons.

I did not say gangs operate freely on the res. There is no gate to the res and you/anyone can come and go on most of it. As I understand it their car was found on the res. No bodies or evidence a crime even occurred there that I have heard.
I'm suggesting one of the drug/cartel related gangs are more likely to be involved because there are far more of those players up to their games regularly than native Americans and the missing people were into drugs by the sounds of it.
With the tribe it's more rotten eggs than serious gangs.

Tribe doesn't have much say and I doubt MS-13 ask their permission. They aren't exactly pen pals either.
Seems like a good move to dump the rig on the res and shift the focus. Particularly given those 5 murders not to long ago there. Additionally tribal law enforcement isn't as robust. Res would be an an excellent dumping ground for bodies.

A lot of the recent speculation has been centered on the White Swan incident, but they've had four people in custody for weeks, it seems like if the two situations were connected the FBI would have been able to get one of the four to say something by now. I'm thinking about it from the perspective of a guy who likes to Fish, Hike, Camp and such. So if I was up in the wilderness and parked the car, I'd maybe do a short day-hike explore with the fishing rods and just enough snacks / Beer to pick a good spot.
Then if it was a good spot, come back for the tent and more Food / Beer / Coleman stove.
Otherwise, if it was not a good spot to camp / fish or hike, I'd get back in the vehicle and find a better spot.

Traveling from Piercy, California to the Gorge Amphitheater takes one through Yakima, to suggest they were engaged in nefarious activity is highly speculative and somewhat illogical, if they were seeking x, y or z [as some are seemingly hypothesizing] they would have a better chance finding whatever you're eluding to at the parking lot of the venue than asking random locals they happened upon in Yakima, that just doesn't make sense.
As far as Josiah being 2nd generation Grateful Dead Family, while I realize that term gets thrown around a good bit, in this instance it's an accurate statement, I remember him when he was a toddler, he's a good kid.

I found out through mutual friends Saturday evening, within an hour or so I posted this thread in the hope that someone may know someone who may know something about what may have happened, given the fact that these guys may have been victims of a horrific crime I'd ask that you reserve judgment until the facts surface. The reason I posted the suggested route from Piercy to the Gorge was to illustrate that it makes very little sense to have driven all that way and be an hour or so from the venue, then stop in Yakima to hit up random locals for this or that...to me, it just seems somewhat implausible.
It's an unspeakably sad situation, I haven't written any books on how to proceed, I just thought that given the scenario they were en route to a Dead & Co. show that it may be beneficial in some way to post the information on this message board...if I could do something more effective I would. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and input, as well as your prayers for a positive outcome, although the investigation has shifted to a homicide investigation, they don't know that it is a certainty and stranger things have happened than these guys are alive somewhere. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers for what would be a true miracle, thank you.

Brainstorming thoughts about it...if there's a dynamic that gives any cause for optimism at all it might be that it just seems so unfathomable, that is to say I can't recall having ever heard of a similar situation anecdotally, 2 able bodied men disappear 90 miles or so from their destination [after a 10 hour drive] without a trace and a month goes by and they can't figure out what happened? I realize it may just be wanting to find any reason to remain hopeful, but it doesn't make any sense, so much so that maybe there's reason to believe it's not what it appears to be.
The recent LA Times article mentioned the texts from Jon's phone essentially saying they were almost to the venue...that kind of rules out any thoughts of them taking a quick excursion to an Indian reservation in the middle of the night. I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's so illogical in a "big picture" perspective that maybe it's not as it appears [if that makes any sense].

I'm unaware of any developments in the last day or so, it's discouraging, but I remain hopeful. I've never heard of a crime scenario that makes less sense. Something seems completely "off" about the whole thing. Jon texts his buddies that are waiting for him at the venue that they are 90 minutes or so away at more or less the exact spot the car was located, he could have sent a text saying they were in danger, or they had picked up a hitchhiker, or that they were going to stop at an Indian reservation for the evening, but he texted the people who were waiting for them to arrive that they would be there shortly, I suppose if there's a significant development, in my opinion that would be it [per the LA Times article].

That may be a lot of people's first reaction, I get that...but the guy was at Shoreline, then the Hollywood Bowl, and according to his friend planned on doing the east coast dates...then is 80 miles away from the Gorge, texts his friends he's about to arrive, and then does what? I just don't think it makes sense, I get that people may think that it does given his past, but I don't think it makes sense, if anything, he would be the kind of guy that could probably defend himself from a perpetrator, be it a hitchhiker or a carjacking, I don't believe he attacked Josiah, so I get that he has a sordid past, but I'm not sure that implicates him. As far as that lending credence to the theory that he was looking for something prior to arriving on the lot, in the middle of nowhere, in the middle of the night, 80 miles from the concert venue, it seems like one would have a much better chance finding whatever they might be looking for at the parking lot of the venue. All I'm saying, is something seems very "off" about the whole thing, so much so that it may not be as it appears...also, the fact that they just vanished without a clue seems odd in this day and age.

Before cell service I was searching for a friend that was MIA for a week. I had lent several k's of trees to him and was thinking of every bad scenario.
He fell asleep at the wheel on 684 in NY and crashed down an embankment. The steering wheel and broken bones had him pinned in his truck. A NY state cop, who after 3 days of catching a strange reflection in his mirrors as he passed, found him and saved his life. He lived to beat me a few years later for bunch of $$, eventually OD'd and passed. He was one hell of a drummer.

That's assuming one of them didn't have a connection in the Yakima area. Given their backgrounds and travels you can't rule that out.
I have high placed friends in the tribe, chiefs daughter. She is as sharp as they come, a ray of light and the definition of upstanding and wouldn't associate with the dark side that drags their culture down. Like I said previously - just because the car was found on tribal land doesn't mean the tribe had anything to do with them or know anything. I would suspect gangs first for several reasons.

I did not say gangs operate freely on the res. There is no gate to the res and you/anyone can come and go on most of it. As I understand it their car was found on the res. No bodies or evidence a crime even occurred there that I have heard.
I'm suggesting one of the drug/cartel related gangs are more likely to be involved because there are far more of those players up to their games regularly than native Americans and the missing people were into drugs by the sounds of it.
With the tribe it's more rotten eggs than serious gangs.

Tribe doesn't have much say and I doubt MS-13 ask their permission. They aren't exactly pen pals either.
Seems like a good move to dump the rig on the res and shift the focus. Particularly given those 5 murders not to long ago there. Additionally tribal law enforcement isn't as robust. Res would be an an excellent dumping ground for bodies.
Tribal shady figures numbers are minimal compared to the Hispanic operators. Would seem unwise to start a fight when you are out number 100-1 etc.

I know it's a heartbreaking situation for some very good people, I'm still trying to remain hopeful...if there's the slightest chance that someone may stumble onto this thread that may know something or know someone that may know something, or even possibly brainstorm a possible series of thoughts that may contribute to a positive outcome, however slight that chance may be, I would have been remiss not to post this thread a month ago. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and any constructive discussion...it's an increasingly discouraging scenario, but stranger things have happened than somehow these two are found alive.
A lot of the recent speculation has been centered on the White Swan incident, but they've had four people in custody for weeks, it seems like if the two situations were connected the FBI would have been able to get one of the four to say something by now. There's so much about the case that makes no sense whatsoever that I'm holding out hope it's not what it appears to be.

I'm thinking about it from the perspective of a guy who likes to Fish, Hike, Camp and such. So if I was up in the wilderness and parked the car, I'd maybe do a short day-hike explore with the fishing rods and just enough snacks / Beer to pick a good spot.
Then if it was a good spot, come back for the tent and more Food / Beer / Coleman stove.
Otherwise, if it was not a good spot to camp / fish or hike, I'd get back in the vehicle and find a better spot.
