You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the Wind Blows

It's a good thing too because they've all been laid off

When I graduated in Atmospheric Sciences back in 87,  HW Bush cut the weather service from around 8k to 3.5k.   There was a huge backlash and many jobs were reinstated.  Locallly, the manned post in Astoria OR became automated, deaths from shipping accidents skyrocketed, and they reinstated the staff there.

Now, they fire 800 people in the first wave of cuts, to an already understaffed agency.  But they're going after people in the Pacific Tsunami group, hurricane groups, etc, which is beyond stupid when already short staffed!

"The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) should be dismantled and many of its functions eliminated, sent to other agencies, privatized, or placed under the control of states and territories. . . . [NOAA is] a colossal operation that has become one of the main drivers of the climate change alarm industry and, as such, is harmful to future U.S. prosperity" - Project 2025, pp. 664; 675.
