Such a great book, I've read it twice and each time my mind about short circuits, until he starts talking about the motorcycle again. : )

Phenomenal author and thinker.

Rest in peace.

"Quality . . . you know what it is, yet you don't know what it is. But that's self-contradictory. But some things are better than others, that is, they have more quality. But when you try to say what the quality is, apart from the things that have it, it all goes poof! There's nothing to talk about. But if you can't say what Quality is, how do you know what it is, or how do you know that it even exists? If no one knows what it is, then for all practical purposes it doesn't exist at all. But for all practical purposes it really does exist."

-Pirsig

i couldn't get into it...

Love that book, it is all about quality.  Sometimes you get shown the light.

I loved it when Quality turned into the Tao.

Rest in peace.

reunited with his son

I read ZATAMM 6 or 8 times, really influenced my thinking in HS and college. There's a Phadrus in all of us!

I went to Bozeman and found his old office and some of his stomping grounds in the 80's.

Sorry he did not publish another cerebral book, Lila left me a bit flat.  Hope his later life was fulfilling,

He made a real contribution.

It takes some effort to get into it, turtle, but it's worth it.

wasn't chancellor not a big fan?

i know he claimed grateful dean wasn't

I took a class that was a close reading of one book: Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance.

The Professor had been through his copy so many times that pages were falling out and it was held together with rubber bands.

I learned why it's important to be mindful of my surroundings and my inner senses. I learned how to breathe.

The day at the Zen Center helped. Whatta class. Thank you, Prof.
