Psyched for this. Seems like a natural double bill. $47.50 tickets for Zero/DNB in Berkeley works better for my wife and me than the $100 tickets (per day) for DNB/Moonalice in Ukiah.
That's an easy No thanks! Berkeley Community center sucks for shows and like MrTofuhead said in the other thread, DNB has been underwhelming and going through motions with same ole same ole. Never been a huge fan of Zero and it's just a shell of the original lineup.
What's that? This show is happening at the UC Theatre. I haven't been there, but I hear it's a fine little venue.
And it's not an exorbitant cost, it will be a fun party and the money goes to a very good cause, so despite not being overwhelmed by the bands, I imagine I'll be there.
Show is at UC Theater. I was there recently for Bela Fleck's bluegrass band. Thought the venue was decent. Only minor complaint would be that the floor was very sticky when I got there shortly after the doors opened, before people even had a chance to spill beer. Would be awesome if they mopped the floor after each show. Too much to ask?
Long time Zero fan here. I was impressed with the current Zero at the Mystic in October 2021. It was very good music. Jazzy and rocking. Seemed fresh and vibrant to me.
This is a must see show! Current Zero lineup is fantastic and I'll still enjoy whatever effort David can summon up in his frail old age. The rest of the band easily carries him and it's fun to wish wavy a happy birthday. I still fondly recall his 50th at the Warfield. Temple Fugit.
There aren't too many of these gatherings left and in these crazy times I'm grateful we have them at all....
Wavy's Birthday shows have always been fun. Nothing will ever beat 50.
Wavy Gravy 50th Birthday Benefit, May 15, 1986, Berkeley Community Theatre / Jerry Garcia and John Kahn - Kantner, Balin, Casady Band - Mickey Hart - Bob Weir - Ken Kesey, Paul Krassner, and Wavy Gravy
Jorma was the surprise opener with Jack joining for a little accoustic Hot Tuna.
A lot of people who arrived late were bummed to miss Jerry and John.
Bob played in a duo with Brent.

With that lineup, it's certainly one-set-only from the opening bands, and probably for Zero too.
Special Guests? Hmmmmmm... who could they be?
See you freaks there!
