ZMA-Sacramento, Psycho Genius July 8th

Forums:

Psycho Genius is a project Furious E and I concocted years ago as a fantasy band.  We are both huge William Mylar fans and really thought he would crush material by David Byrne and Warren Zevon.  It was all just a beautiful stoned dream band until it became a reality in 2016 at the final Zoner Jam before the old .org page shut down.  Psycho Genius was a super quirky project that played equal amounts Byrne, Zevon, Mylar, and my songs with a little bit of GD style jamming sprinkled in.

We really thought the project would just be a one off but apparently it's a real band because we have another show.

oh another band that only plays up north....

We're Sacramentos least talked about band.  We're hoping to be nominated for a "Sacky" next year.

>>>>>We're Sacramentos least talked about band

You might be jeopardizing that achievement with this thread. smiley

Psycho genius is a band concept so brilliant, it's crazy!

Or so crazy it's brilliant!

^^^^

now you're gettin it!

I wish i could Sac up and catch this.

Not sure how, but this was already on my calendar.  Maybe Bill told me about it a few weeks ago.

Hunter Thompson? Cool!

>>>Not sure how, but this was already on my calendar.  Maybe Bill told me about it a few weeks ago.

i was working the pr angle at Achilles wheel.

Go to the show.

It happens to be my birthday too so come prepared to celebrate.

Needs a shaker.

This is a real possibility.

Nothing on my calendar for that night and I have more freedom this summer, at the moment at least.

I might just have to Sac up that night.

Lance, if you make it it will boost attendance from our last gig by 100%

It would b an honor for u to attend, lance!

Not only will it b all different material, this set is shaping up to b a lot looser, lengthier, and wackier than the psycho genius debut last year.

However, the debut set did feature a good amount of Frank Sinatra sit ins which were a huge bonus!

we're workin on getting some special guests for this next gig too, Ala tony's suggestion and more, but either way it will b a very exploratory, diverse experience with plenty of risks being taken; I'm talking sketch comedy improv, world beat music, war reenactments, costumes, all kinds of weird shit.

>>>>>>Needs a shaker

Unfortunately Negan will be unable to make this one.

>>>>>>Unfortunately Negan will be unable to make this one.

Well good news, looks like he's back to a maybe.  Other zoners that have jammed with him can attest to how amazing it is that a guy with some shakers can totally elevate the whole band.  He really is an amazing musician to play with and makes everyone on stage play better.

And since it looks like this project will be playing a few times a year now we went ahead and set up some social media.  So if you Facebook stop by and give us a like.

....Plus one of my used bass picks and I'll sign your poster

You get all the old (unused) condoms from my pedalboard bag, a poster, and 3 drink tickets.

'Cause you had a gig bag full of horses, trojans and some of them used, but saved those ones for your  memory book?

If you sign up for our street team you get 75% off the price of admission.

IMG_0177.JPG

Those with their ear to the ground know that drink tickets will be the currency of the near future. Need to find out how to get on this street team.

Get a haircut E!

Looking forward to this show.

It will be good to have you in the house Mark.  Especially for the audience participation parts.  It was going to be awkward if nobody showed up.

Oh, BTW, the Torch says we can use some of the other stuff, but not the lighter fluid or the peanut butter on the audience.
If we think of something else, they asked to please let them know BEFORE we start.

Have a killer birthday show. I'll be turning 40 that day as well.

Anyway you guys can work up some quick ditty that includes asscheeks, a hole in the ground, and maybe a frustrated ruddy faced oilman?

Well I guess we assumed that going in.  I'll find a work around on the lighter fluid and maybe we could use almond butter instead.  No problems with the inflatable women, animals, or nudity?

>>>>>>>Have a killer birthday show.

Thanks fellow Cancer

>>>>>I'll be turning 40 that day as well.

Slow down buddy, I'm only turning a young 39.

Asscheeks will be very easy to work into this show.  We might snub the stubby oilman though.

I was going to add that I'll always be a year ahead of you to avoid any confusion but thought of dogman and his notebook troll for a second and refrained.

I might try and bring in some folks from work and maybe a couple other friends. The better half and I will definitely be there.

Redneck! miss hanging with you guys every so often in the big city, usually at the Torch. Hope all is well and enjoy the show. Sounds like a good little gathering rounding in to shape.

new email helpslip66@gmail in case you ever need it.

>>>>I was going to add that I'll always be a year ahead of you

That explains the added wisdom and maturity.

>>>>>>I might try and bring in some folks from work and maybe a couple other friends. The better half and I will definitely be there.

Sweet!  Can't wait to see you guys.

I felt like the werewolf wolf poster was missing something so I added a piña colada

What happens in that situation if the dingy goes down?

Women and children first, but the captain goes down with the ship.

Gravy's just flaunting his innie knowledge but actually hardcore fans of the group r known as psychophans

E gets it. One could've used brown-noser or boot-licker or any of a dozen other phrases, but they all lack the poetry of that one word for this occasion.

Sac up, if you've got a huge problem with it.

23.  I was in the neighborhood for a Psycho Genius show anyway, so I thought I'd check it out.

Oh, that's why it made no sense.

You didn't miss my Zevon refererence, you just fucked up and posted in the wrong thread.

The fact that you think that other post is brownnosing shows how clueless you really are.

No, I ran across that other post just now, so pointing and laughing here, as it were.

Oh, then you did miss the Zevon reference.

I gave you too much credit.

Lol.

Carry on, clownshoes.

No, I got it, but don't care about your Zevon reference. The point is it was your second example (at least) of being a sycophant on this thread, and I found it humorous to point out poetically.

What's with your constant need to be "right", Guy? Seriously, ever probed that need?

>>>What's with your constant need to be "right", Guy? Seriously, ever probed that need?

Lol

The irony.

Lol.

You missed the reference and thought i was saying timmys work on the hair was perfect and you called me a sychophant.

You were wrong, you missed a lighthearted song reference in a light hearted thread, went your usual turd in the punch bowl route and now you are doubling down on it like you did on the green chili.

Classic Grimey.

Classic indeed.

(((Salsa Verde)))

couldn't be more wrong....but Guy NEEDS to believe otherwise....strange behavior, indeed. Like thinking millennials invented vanlife. Or that Chile Verde = Salsa Verde

<<<Like thinking millennials invented vanlife

Huh?  Youre delusional.

Dont make up shit and project because you have a problem for some unknown reason with my family's rececent rv acquisition and my newfound enthusiasm associated with it.

<<<Chile Verde = Salsa Verde

Bwahahaha. Keep showing us with every post in the topic you dont even know what you were arguing about and it was about being right.

Irony indeed, St Mark.

Enjoy your van. Just don't be a dork and think you're trailblazing by sleeping in your car, dude.

Your the only one that seems to think I think that.

We are all standing on tbe shoulders of giants.

Couldnt be further off base.

(I did the trailblazing as a dirtbag in the early 90s anyway, this is about family memories)  :-)

dang

same day as the death ride

"The Big Country"

I see the shapes,
I remember from maps.
I see the shoreline.
I see the whitecaps.
A baseball diamond, nice weather down there.
I see the school and the houses where the kids are.
Places to park by the fac'tries and buildings.
Restaunts and bar for later in the evening.
Then we come to the farmlands, and the undeveloped areas.
And I have learned how these things work together.
I see the parkway that passes through them all.
And I have learned how to look at these things and I say,

[CHORUS]
I wouldn't live there if you paid me.
I couldn't live like that, no siree!
I couldn't do the things the way those people do.
I couldn't live there if you paid me to.

I guess it's healthy, I guess the air is clean.
I guess those people have fun with their neighbors and friends.
Look at that kitchen and all of that food.
Look at them eat it' guess it tastes real good.

They grow it in the farmlands
And they take it to the stores
They put it in the car trunk
And they bring it back home
And I say ...

[CHORUS]
I say, I wouldn't live there if you paid me.
I couldn't live like that, no siree!
I couldn't do the things the way those people do.
I wouldn't live there if you paid me to.

I'm tired of looking out the windows of the airplane
I'm tired of travelling, I want to be somewhere.
It's not even worth talking
About those people down there.

I'm really enjoying the poster series. Who's creating them?

Hoover's creating them, I conceptualized the last 2.

Bill did the handbill he posted earlier

See you Saturday!

Places people.

The Sacramento Bee has us listed as a Performance Art Band.  I guess we'll need to up the stage antics just a little to fit the bill.

I'm rehearsing my political spoken word while fire juggling bit as we speak

I'll probably just take a dump on the flag.

There's a touring Blues band after Psycho Genius at the Torch.

It's going to be a hot one today!

Just wish my health was in better shape.

Enjoy every one of those sandwiches today, gentlemen.

Nice roadtrip, plf. Have a blast.

Happy bday, hoovs. Rock it out.

i said may.......

NO Way am i driving in that HEAT !

Well, E, That political spoken word better be Marxist or I will have to speak out !! J/K ! Drive safe !!

Does this really start at 5:30

>>>>Well, E, That political spoken word better be Marxist

pffft, is there any other kind?

and yes, as bill said, there's a lovely pro-touring blues band on at 9pm so we need to start early to have enough time to sufficiently turn this mutha out.

we're probably gonna wanna take a set break too so I expect our performance to start at 5:30 sharp

On my way from Lake County!

Don't have AC in your vehicle PLF?

Well folks, for a variety of reasons I won't be able to make it to Sac tonight for the big show, but I will be checking the entertainment section in the Sunday paper for a review.

I should probably also check the crime section for news about it as well.

Have a good one!!!

Best plan to check the obituaries as well.

Hoover's already dropped hints about potentially dying during the encore as a col. Brice Hampton tribute.

personally I think that would b in bad taste, but it's his birthday so whatever...

That would be truly bad-ass.

But then performance art should know no half-measures.

Still, I advise against it.

Break legs 'n scramble eggs.

have a nice show kids

Have fun!

Nope been Broken for Years.......

Have A GOOD Time ALL !
