I know it is impossible to have a legitimate debate on this topic with Blair/Bert/Dead2 but I would argue that Obama has made tremendous progress in the fight against terror and that there are facts and statistics to support this. I would also argue that the actual threat of terrorism is way overblown. WAY overblown.

House Report: US facing biggest Islamic terror threat since 9/11
The United States faces its highest threat from Islamist terrorists since 9/11 and much of that stems from those radicalized at home, according to the House Homeland Security Committee’s December Terror Threat Snapshot released Tuesday.

Obama will leave his
Obama will leave his successor more Middle East disasters than he inherited
Look at the figures coming out of the United Nations. Sixty-five million people are refugees today. That’s more than after World War II. Wherever you look around the world, thanks to that ‘leading from behind’ mantra of the current administration, the world is on fire. Whether it’s Asia, the Middle East, North Africa – even Europe, if you look at what Russia’s doing. The world is far more dangerous than it was seven and a half years ago.

Can we take a little trip
Can we take a little trip back to 2008 please?
Actually several years before that when GW Bush and his team blatantly lied to the American people and Congress in order to start a very ill advised war. Interestingly, as a people, we were hungry for fucking revenge on anything that might wear a towel on it's head after 911, much like just under half of the people today want change and revenge on blacks, immigrants and Wall Street (unless of course Trump hires them for Cabinet positions).
That war cost thousands of US lives and hundreds of thousands of Iraqi and then Afhgani lives. By 2006ish, we, the American people, Republican, Democrat, Independent, were ALL fed up and wanted those wars over. Come 2008 and Obama who had a mandate to stop the madness. In fact, he inherited an agreement negotiated by the Bush team and supported by the American people back then to withdraw X amount of troops. This was a point that for some reason, was lost when HRC was attacked by Trump et al for the pull out. At that time, the "leading from behind" strategy was, again, one of several reasons that Obama was elected. We were viewed poorly by the world because we not only went in to Iraq, but then fucked it up to a fare thee well.
It is NOT a stretch in any way to say the GWB team is completely responsible for the de-stabilization of that entire region. Obama got handed the worst shit sandwich (economically and foreign affairs wise) than virtually any other President in our history. He acted with what was the will of the people at that time. 8 years later, combined with blatant lies and other outlandish rhetoric, he has the ultimate false equivalency that the Trump team has done magnificently throughout being thrown his way. History books, if the country allows them to be written, in the future will show the truth.

Amazing how a war, to coin
Amazing how a war, to coin Monty Python, was completely written, conceived and performed by (poorly I might add) the GW Bush administration with blatant lies told to all of us including the Congress (so you know, that's made up of Republicans and Democrats) has somehow completely become the fault of the minority number of Democrats who voted for it. Again, they voted based on the lies they were told.
There's no question that Obama did not make things better, but by god man, how the hell was he supposed to do that? He inherited a deal to withdraw, which, again, EVERYONE supported. His plan was to not impose our will on other nations, again, a notion which EVERYONE supported back in 2008.
That middle east shit is some f'd up shit! NO ONE has been able to deal with it.
The Trump plan is "work with Russia". Sounds fantastic on paper. Maybe a good deal back under a Gorbachov Russia, but under a Putin Russia? It means we all need to trust him. Trust a throwback who wants nothing more than to Make Russia Great Again which translates to rebuild the Soviet Union by any means necessary. This is a guy who is willfully blowing up hospitals in Syria. No easy answers in the first place and our PEOTUS has a mancrush on Russia's sick leader because he either a) just loves the fact that Putin said nice things about him or 2) there's more afoot here than we are aware of. However, I'm sure it will work out fine.

>>> There's no question
>>> There's no question that Obama did not make things better
American soldiers were killed, wounded, and permanently disabled - in massive numbers - before 2009:
4000 + dead
25,000 + officially "wounded"
1 million plus on permanent partial - to - full disability.
From the perspective of the US troops, I will hypothesize that Obama was "better".

Ok! A fact! yay! Taken from an article written over five year ago but appears to be fact.
I believe your initial argument in this thread is that Obama is delusional in saying that he has made progress in the fight against terror. Please explain how these numbers help prove you 'delusional' point.. These numbers seem to support the fact that Obama did focus on fighting terrorism. No?

The fact is the world is a far more dangerous place now..then when obama became president. Before obama there was no ISIS. Now ISIS is committing atrocities in over thirty countries and is not the weak JV team as obama tried to dismiss them as, but the largest terror group in the history of the world.
That is fact.
