it has been discussed in South Florida as well, from Key West up to Palm Beach.
We are more caribbean and south american than anything else, so why the hell not.
I live in California, and have not heard of this movement. What's their problem and what exactly are their grievances? Were such grievances aired during the holy festivus event of 2016?
From His Home in Russia, #Calexit Leader Plots California Secession
On paper, the leader of the California secession movement lives in an apartment complex near San Diego’s Golden Hill neighborhood. But in reality, the Calexit campaign is being run by a 30-year-old who lives and works in a city on the edge of Siberia.
Louis Marinelli heads the secessionist group Yes California. Following the election of Donald Trump to the presidency, the organization has gone from an unknown fringe group to one discussed seriously in mainstream media.
What has not been discussed as prominently is Marinelli’s deep ties to Russia.
A former right-wing activist from Buffalo, New York, Marinelli first moved to Russia almost a decade ago. He studied at St. Petersburg State University, the alma mater of Russian President Vladimir Putin. He returned to the United States to campaign against LGBTQ rights as part of the National Organization for Marriage...
Despite these significant obstacles for the group — and with little, if any, grass-roots support for the campaign — Russian media outlets covered Marinelli’s effort in earnest. Several times, the Communist Party’s Pravda newspaper covered the Yes California campaign
The guy running from this if from NY, moved to Cal in 2011, and since then has spent most of his time living in Russia. Previous achievements include opposing same sex marriage and voting for Trump (because he claims he loved Bernie so much). He is a fan of Putin. He works from a Yes California "embassy" in Russia.
Putin often backs secessionist movements in other countries even if they won't win--it makes for good press in Moscow to show that other countries are unstable.

Only two ways it happens:
Only two ways it happens: Amending the US Constitution or armed rebellion. You can't secede by ballot.
There is no legal framework for secession and the Feds won't allow it. See Texas v White.
