Trumps 663 Promises

Forums:

Donald Trump will take the Oath of Office 583 days after he first announced his improbable run for the White House.

Along the way, he made 663 promises (and counting), according to a ThinkProgress analysis of Trump’s public statements that examined well over 4 million words from his media interviews, his policy position papers, and his speeches to supporters, interest groups, and national television audiences.

https://thinkprogress.org/trump-made-a-lot-of-promises-about-what-he-wil...

Did he promise that you can keep your doctor?

Absolutely, Trump needs to be held to account for his campaign pledges, especially by his supporters who helped him get into office.

Let's hope they do a better job than the spineless Obama supporters who did jack squat holding him accountable.

>>  Did he promise that you can keep your doctor?

Bro, He said he had 1-1.5 MILLION at his inauguration...

You gonna tell me your eyes believe that lie?

How about you can keep your healthcare plan?

i've been informed on this forum numerous times that promises do not count & can't be used against the politician that made the promises. and this was regarding obama specifically. so there is that.....

Obama Promised Healthcare Premiums Would Fall $2,500 Per Family; They Have Climbed $4,865

Obama made the promise saying, "today I'm pledging to cut the deficit we inherited in half by the end of my first term in office.

Obama hasn’t kept his promise to cut the nation’s annual deficit in half by the end of his first term or second term

Bros, On his first day in office, Trump broke 34 promises....

https://thinkprogress.org/on-his-first-day-in-office-trump-broke-34-prom...

they're promises, so they don't count against him.

i'm sure there will be plenty of other situations that will present themselves that will really land him in legal trouble. hell, i'm already tired of the circus. i predict spicer will be the first one to go.

>> they're promises, so they don't count against him.

Without assuming who you voted for...

You don't think that bothers Trump voters?

you don't have to assume who i voted for, i didn't vote for president, period. 2 shitty candidates with no redeeming qualities to speak of. all i'm saying is when i brought this same subject up about obama not keeping his promises, i was repeatedly told, in the philzone politics forum, promises don't count and the politicians that made them are not to be held accountable for any broken promises. make of that what you will.

Must suck to be on losing side of the landside. You're guy bombed brown people every day and accumulated more debt then all presidents in history added up. Facts and math are hard. Educate thyselves.

Trump's victory was a repudiation of the failed Obama policies.

Bernie Sanders would've beat Trump, had the DNC/Hillary not rigged the process.

You reap what you sow.

If Trump gets reckless and oversteps his authority, the citizenry needs to respond. Until there's ample evidence of that, i say STFU and let the man do his job

>> You reap what you sow.

You want quiet?

Keep your head buried in the sand!!

>>>>>Must suck to be on losing side of the landside. You're guy bombed brown people every day

Landslide? "Your" guy got 3M fewer votes.

Fafa masquerading as Kellyanne with his/her own alternative facts

<<Must suck to be on losing side of the landside.>>

Majority of voters chose HRC (BTW, I'm not a big fan of hers either) with close to 3M more votes. When you factor in the 3rd party votes, that number jumps dramatically. DJT won the EC, no question. However, that was hardly a landslide either. In the 3 key swing states, the grand total was less than 80k and, his 303 EC votes ranked him very low on that scale as well. Real facts.

<<You're guy bombed brown people every day>>

A few things here; America (you, me, every President from either side of the aisle) has bombed brown, white and other people everyday. Has been the case for years. In this particular one, yes, surely Obama did, but why? Well, he inherited a ill advised and poorly executed wars by the previous GOP administration. Finally, righties have slammed him for being "too soft" and "leading from behind" yet now you slam him for bombing brown people. Can you pick a false equivalency (look it up) and stick with it?

<<accumulated more debt then all presidents in history added up>>

Were you born in 2008 or after? Do you not recall the shit storm economy that the man walked in to on his day one? In the midst of the Great Recession created by his GOP predecessor in the final years of his 8 years in office (point here is that GOP can't blame Dem predecessor so late in term) which was on the brink of becoming another Great Depression, Obama (who I did not vote for in '08), pulled the nation away from the brink of disaster (real one, not Trumps disaster) and guess what, it cost a shit ton of debt to do it. Would implore you to take a minute and read the attached with an open mind http://www.npr.org/2017/01/19/510491692/the-america-donald-trump-is-inhe...

<<Facts and math are hard. Educate thyselves>>

Agreed on this one. Goes both ways.

I did not vote for Trump because from everything he has said and done, which I witnessed with my, independent (not a Dem) ears and eyes, reveal an ethically and morally bankrupt man-child who is temperamentally unfit for the job. That being said, I understand that a piece of his election was change and I welcome change. To do that effectively, you need to be a disruptor to certain degrees. There ARE things I concur with him on such as getting the nation to have Medicare negotiate pricing for Rx with big pharma. However, the GOP along with some Dems have fought that for years. I hope, during his time in office, he can change that. For the areas in government where there are useless jobs and people not contributing workwise, I'm good with him challenging that as well. I hate hypocrisy and it's rampant in politics with neither the GOP or Dems having a monopoly on it. Ultimately, he and his team need to understand that while they have the power from a positional perspective, they do NOT have a mandate by any means and therefore, they need to work to gain respect and trust from the close to 2/3 of the US who either hates or is at a minimum, skeptical of them. Otherwise, we are all in for a bumpy ride.

>> i say STFU and let the man do his job

I got your shut the fuck up motherfucker!

LOL.. good one. To clarify, i didn't really mean people should be silenced from expressing their opinion, marching, protesting, etc. as i fully support 1st amendment rights. However, the level of hysteria and fear about Trump is getting absurd, and don't think it's warranted. Sure, the guy is an asshole, but what has he really done that's so bad?

Let me ask you a NON - Alternative Fact question...

DO you know YOUR president just said 3-5 MILLION illegal ballots cost him the popular vote?

If not, here you go....

FACT!

Without evidence, Trump tells lawmakers 3 million to 5 million illegal ballots cost him the popular vote:

Days after being sworn in, President Trump insisted to congressional leaders invited to a reception at the White House that he would have won the popular vote had it not been for millions of illegal votes, according to people familiar with the meeting.

Trump has repeatedly claimed, without evidence, that widespread voter fraud caused him to lose the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, even while he clinched the presidency with an electoral college victory.

Dead2, why do you continue to wonder about a primary that ended in June of last year. Is it because you would like to deflect attention away from Trump's continuous lying and his  assault on the press?

He has not yet responded to any reasonable questions about his man and his people. When presented, he goes away for a short period then, just like a Swiss watch, ticks back with his whataboutism crap. Sad, but certainly speaks volumes.

On another note, again, reasonably speaking for those so inclined, if you are any of the following people in these two recent situations, what must you be thinking?

CIA personnel - you are in a very hallowed hall in your building. you are in a career that clearly requires a deep passion which is probably very different than many of us. your new commander in chief has via his own written and published tweets unquestionably slammed you and your team as well as doing it verbally, all of which can easily be seen and heard even today. he is now standing in front of you, in front of the sacred wall of your anonymous dead brothers in arms and he goes on a rant about how it was the dishonest, horrible people, media who slammed them, not him. he barely recognizes the significance of the room nor the dead who are honored there. forget whether he lies about the size of his crowd, the fact that it is even a topic in a speech to you is bat shit crazy enough. topped off by a crowd roar from people in the front row that none of you know and are clearly brought in to cheer him as if they were you.

Congressman - your first collective meeting with the new president and he feels the need to even discuss the election results and then proceeds to lie about what all non-partisan sources (including your own partys state governors who are responsible for their states voting regulation) concur was a non-issue, voter fraud. not a little, but the ridiculous 3-5M votes he has fabricated in his little head to make him feel better about the significant loss in the popular vote.

Again, reasonably, what goes on in your head?

It's like we are in medieval times when an idiot son rises to the position of King.

just looking for excuses maybe?

Emails?

Putin/Russia elected your boy....

Here's who you voted for and support!

Fascist:

1. Powerful and Continuing Nationalism
Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays.

2. Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights
Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other wayor even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3. Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause
The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc.

4. Supremacy of the Military
Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5. Rampant Sexism
The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

6. Controlled Mass Media
Sometimes the media are directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media are indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in wartime, is very common.

7. Obsession with National Security
Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses.

8. Religion and Government are Intertwined
Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions.

9. Corporate Power is Protected
The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/ government relationship and power elite.

10. Labor Power is Suppressed
Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11. Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts
Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12. Obsession with Crime and Punishment
Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations

13. Rampant Cronyism and Corruption
Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders.

14. Fraudulent Elections
Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

Can't be a landslide when you lose the popular vote.

I get that you have no problem with the Russian effort on Trump's behalf. You'd only care if the Russians had colluded with Clinton.

Just like you don't care about, or even acknowledge, Trump's continuous lying and his assault on the press.

Which one of the emails that was exposed do you think was most responsible for the landslide loss of Hillary Clinton?>>

you guys are pathetic

simple question that you cannot answer

Dead2, you already posed that question several times in at least one other thread.

And it was answered.

Why don't you explain to The Pathetics how it had nothing to do with Trump's electoral victory?

In the spirit of our Role-Model-in-Chief, I will make a statement not based on easily produced facts:

The email leaks were entirely from DNC-related emails, without a balance of leaked RNC-related emails.  This made a big difference in this election, IMHO.  That alone creates an imbalance on the scales of the voter to think of Hilary Clinton and the DNC more negatively.  Of course, I think that this would be a difficult thing to quantify.

I have little doubt that the RNC, Green Party, and Libertarians have each had their fare share of emails and documents that would have left a negative impression, if leaked to the general public.  That's just how Politics work, IMHO.

I'm not even addressing foreign powers' involvement, who has better email security, etc, etc.

We obviously can disagree about how important the role of the leaked emails played in the election of our POTUS, because there are no "slam dunk" conclusions to be made from verifiable information available to us at this time.

I will argue, however, that the combination of the Comey announcements with the exposure/conversations about the leaked emails had a big influence on what the media reported at key times.  And on how many people were influenced to feel about Hilary Clinton.  And, thus, I believe that the hacked emails affected the election results.

I don't believe that one email in particular made a huge difference, unless you can convince me otherwise.

ill informed?

I understand how the electoral college works. I also know  that in many states Trump's margin of was fairly narrow. I also know more citizens voted for his opponent. Only a delusional fool would call this a landslide.

What's pathetic is your apathy concerning a foreign government's meddling in our election.

Care to defend the current president's lie concerning illegal voters?

And it was answered.>>

no it wasn't..

you guys do not pay very good attention..

why don't you try and answer if you can, give it a try..

Which one of the emails that was exposed do you think was most responsible for the landslide loss of Hillary Clinton?

and

crickets again?

The email leaks were entirely from DNC-related emails, without a balance of leaked RNC-related emails. >>

the RNC isn't corrupt like the DNC is..

Like rigging the election, giving debate questions to Clinton...corrupt to the core.

and the DNC had little to no safeguards to protect their emails..not to mention Pedesta was so very stupid to give out his password..so simple and easy to hack these people.

Dead, I don't have time to dig out the answering question part (maybe you can find it?).  I basically said that I had not read any particular email, so I couldn't specifically answer your question,  but I thought that the DNC members conspiring against Sanders was most likely the most damaging for those who were backing Sanders to disregard his request and refuse to vote for Hilary Clinton.

You seemed to agree and asked for more answers.  Sorry that you haven't received more answers.

Regarding your claims that the RNC isn't corrupt like the DNC is: Wasn't that 35-page Trump dossier initially started by Republicans?

And yes, many of those emails revealed some horrible things that DNC et al had done.  No doubt in my mind.

No doubt Trump won "The Game" but I feel that his win was the product of a perfect storm, not that he and the Republicans are so much more honest and morally superior to the Dems.

...And I know that he HATES it that others think that he may have had some external help along the way.

You can keep deriding any and all of us, if you like.  I'm just trying to have some sort of back and forth conversation.

Dead, I don't have time to dig out the answering question part (maybe you can find it?). >>

I can't find it because it doesn't exist..

So answer the question already

are you scared? embarrassed? dumbfounded?

can't even answer a simple question..geez

was the product of a perfect storm,>>

Hey Dead2,

by the way..the hacked emails are not "fake news"..but who cares.

which emails from Pedesta and the DNC do you think did the most damage to  Hillary Clinton?

By Johnny D(skudebro) on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 – 12:38 pm

^Which ones do you think?

I think that the revelation of DNC's plotting against Bernie was most likely the most damaging, regarding potential votes for Hillary.

I still don't get the whole "Lock her up!  Lock her up!" stuff, though.

It is nice to have Russia and Wikileaks on your side, though.

I think that the revelation of DNC's plotting against Bernie was most likely the most damaging, regarding potential votes for Hillary.>>

That was a good one..

Very unfair to all those Bernie supporters who gave their money and time to support Bernie..

 Any other favorites?

So, I'd like to pose a question similar to yours:

Which emails do you think were most likely the inspiration for Trump and supporters to chant the Lock Her Up stuff?

They need to find three more promises and stop counting at 666! devil

Why is it the loudest posters seem to be the least informed? They speak with such conviction, from the heart. But nothing from the brain.  I voted for the candidate least likely to do something extremely stupid at the worlds expense. A logical person should be concerned about trumps election and his promises. I await the moment in all his supporters lives when they are negatively impacted by one of his actions. The "too late, I f'd up" moment. I hope its not too bad.

When that moment happens, remember this quiet little post.

I think that the revelation of DNC's plotting against Bernie was most likely the most damaging, regarding potential votes for Hillary.>>

My apology

you are correct, glad you found that..

so the fact that the hacked emails exposed the fact that the DNC was plotting against Bernie, would have rather not found out what was happening to rigged the election against Bernie?

Would it have better if that fact was kept secret and everyone was under the false premise that the elction was above board and fair?

or does the truth matter?

Which emails do you think were most likely the inspiration for Trump and supporters to chant the Lock Her Up stuff?>>

Lock her up was a result of the FBI investigation

From the group of 30,000 e-mails returned to the State Department, 110 e-mails in 52 e-mail chains have been determined by the owning agency to contain classified information at the time they were sent or received. Eight of those chains contained information that was Top Secret at the time they were sent; 36 chains contained Secret information at the time; and eight contained Confidential information, which is the lowest level of classification. Separate from those, about 2,000 additional e-mails were “up-classified” to make them Confidential; the information in those had not been classified at the time the e-mails were sent.

The FBI also discovered several thousand work-related e-mails that were not in the group of 30,000 that were returned by Secretary Clinton to State in 2014.

The lawyers doing the sorting for Secretary Clinton in 2014 did not individually read the content of all of her e-mails, as we did for those available to us; instead, they relied on header information and used search terms to try to find all work-related e-mails among the reportedly more than 60,000 total e-mails remaining on Secretary Clinton’s personal system in 2014. It is highly likely their search terms missed some work-related e-mails, and that we later found them, for example, in the mailboxes of other officials or in the slack space of a server.

Although we did not find clear evidence that Secretary Clinton or her colleagues intended to violate laws governing the handling of classified information, there is evidence that they were extremely careless in their handling of very sensitive, highly classified information.

For example, seven e-mail chains concern matters that were classified at the Top Secret/Special Access Program level when they were sent and received. These chains involved Secretary Clinton both sending e-mails about those matters and receiving e-mails from others about the same matters. There is evidence to support a conclusion that any reasonable person in Secretary Clinton’s position, or in the position of those government employees with whom she was corresponding about these matters, should have known that an unclassified system was no place for that conversation. In addition to this highly sensitive information, we also found information that was properly classified as Secret by the U.S. Intelligence Community at the time it was discussed on e-mail (that is, excluding the later “up-classified” e-mails).

With respect to potential computer intrusion by hostile actors, we did not find direct evidence that Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail domain, in its various configurations since 2009, was successfully hacked. But, given the nature of the system and of the actors potentially involved, we assess that we would be unlikely to see such direct evidence. We do assess that hostile actors gained access to the private commercial e-mail accounts of people with whom Secretary Clinton was in regular contact from her personal account. We also assess that Secretary Clinton’s use of a personal e-mail domain was both known by a large number of people and readily apparent. She also used her personal e-mail extensively while outside the United States, including sending and receiving work-related e-mails in the territory of sophisticated adversaries. Given that combination of factors, we assess it is possible that hostile actors gained access to Secretary Clinton’s personal e-mail account.

hillary jail_2.jpg

OK, thanks for responding Dead2.  And thanks for your apology - not necessary, but accepted and appreciated.

So, my point for asking about the Lock her up emails was that I wasn't aware of any particular email that caused people to ask for her incarceration.

I feel that the hacked DNC emails as a body was more damaging to Hilary Clinton's campaign than any one in particular.  I'm also curious if any damaging emails were written by Hilary herself.  I remember reading excerpts from former DNC chair and Clinton's campaign manager, which are obviously linked to Clinton, but not sure if she personally kept her proverbial hands clean.

Thanks for having a conversation,

John
