Nice start to the Caps season as the defending champs hang their first championship banner, then hose the Bruins 7-0. The 20 game suspension the league dropped on Tom Wilson just a few hours before the puck dropped on the new season seemed to fire them up.

Some great games. Not sure who I want to see play the Islanders - Caps or Canes? Islanders will certainly be rested, hopefully not rusty.

Islanders will have been resting 8 days by the time that game is over. But now they'll play the rest in Brooklyn instead of Nassau Coliseum.
Columbus had 5,000 fans in the arena - for a practice. That town's on fire.

My Islanders ran into a
My Islanders ran into a buzzsaw and those Hurricanes are on fire! As is the town. Fun to watch after 10 years of being out of the playoffs for them.
Good series, couple of breaks here and there make the difference but that's hockey, and Carolina was the better team for sure.
Rooting for them to take the Cup now. They were 60-1 at the beginning of the season.

First ever? Didn't know that. So yeah, I'm rooting for St Louis also, especially after that hand pass. Be nice to see the old franchise get it's first one. But Tuukka is on fire.
St. Louis used to be the parent club of the old Salt Lake Golden Eagles back in the 80's. Games at the old Salt Palace were a gas. Great times. Big crowds. Comfortable padded seats. Friendly security that didn't act like the Gestapo, especially when we went outside for between-period breaks. Then Utah Jazz-owner Larry Miller bought the team and screwed the pooch.
