Heading over to the fields for lunch today. Atlanta Braves. I can not wait to hear the crack of a bat against a baseball!. Their 1st workout was Saturday, and I am not out here on the weekends. Received comp tickets from work for the Pittsburgh Pirates game on 3/13 (I love my job). Some of you may have remembered that my nephew, RHP, went in the 3rd round of the draft to the Pirates back in 2012. Unfortunately, he did not make it out of the minors. Age 17 is way to young to go in the draft. All that money was very inviting.
He wanted it, but I guess didn't want it bad enough. Missed curfews and then had a bad foot injury at age 20 requiring a few surgeries. Fortunately, the team honored his "full ride" to University of Florida where he is now enrolled and studying to be a wildlife officer.
Nothing like hearing the ball pound into the mitts in the bullpens in spring.....and the sound of cleats on pavement...two of the best sounds in the world...
