Just got back from our annual trip to Cape Arago and Shore Acres State Park (plus Holiday Lights) on the southern Oregon Coast. This years rental was on Yoakum Point, a rare spot where you can see nothing but ocean looking towards the north, very rare on the west coast! Coos Bay / North Bend are off to the NE, with Charleston Oregon and Winchester Bay just to the east (great oysters).
Panorama views from the rental w/ the Cape Arago Lighthouse to the west, ocean to the north, and the various bays to our east / NE;

We tried to get to the lighthouse, but it was very gated off, lol... Didn't try doing the longer hike around, there's likely a trail to that headlands, but the island itself is now tribal land, and closed to the public (rumor has it they open it up every once in a while and do a tour)

Holy cow, those pics are awesome. Oregon never ceases to amaze with it's beauty.
But I gotta admit, the reason I got sucked in is because my last name is Yoacham, haha. The Yoacham/Yoakum/Yokum/etc. clan is all from one root that arrived in what is now the US like in the late 1600's or so and then the name split into many spellings. Weirdly enough, there's always some random Yoacham involved in the history of pretty much every small town in the US. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was actually one of the founders of Kansas City, Missouri, along with some McCoys and other folks. :)
